You have been given some very solid advice which I would most likely just echo.
However, I will repeat the anti-running slogan for your first character. Running is valuable when doing subsequent characters after you have already experienced the storyline once.
The beautiful non-cartoony environments is what keeps me on GW and not in WoW unlike the majority of my RL friends.

I agree with the others, dont rush the game. Now that you made it to Lions Arch gets some better armor and go back and do the missions and some quests.
