Angry Costume Brawl Skills

hey everyone,
I just wanted to ask a question.... Why is it that every class in custome brawl gets almost the best build for their class except monk

I mean cmon,
eles get an sf fire build
wars get cripslash
rangers get burning/apply poison interupt
mez gets dom spike
...etc etc

and what do monks get?
A worthless smiter build with healing breeze without even smiters boon?

How the f*** do you expect me to do anything with this build

Anet CMOOON!!! give monks a good build too

If you don't like the build, play a different character. Ritualists can do a pretty good job healing along with damage (similar to monks). I believe they just wanted to let monks have some fun instead of just watching redbars with all healing skills.

I have only been into the brawl the once so far and I hated the necro build.
Came out moaned to my friends and so on.
Since that build had no ability to cripple or to run away I was fodder for warriors.

But then I realised its not the build it was the lack of any team play on my part and the 3 others I was with.

The other team had 2 warriors a monk and a mesmer and trounced us big time and we deserved it.
Given a voice chat or some other efficiant communication we could probably have made a better showing.

But then its just for fun and I suspect they will change it if its run again.

Because a good prot monk build would be too good. Nobody would die and teams would only win if they had one or two monks (and thus cause RA style leaver pre match if you don't have a monk).

Uhh...

I did very well with my monk build. L2P?

Oh, my team mateis dying. I can save him, though not amazingly because that would make this quite boring. But I can do some pretty good damage and knock down the enemy - usually twice. On top of that I can keep a pretty constant regen and because a few of my skills are sigils I don't run out of energy while I'm both taking care of my party and destroying the enemy.

My only problem with the build is that banish is best against summons...something not in costume brawl.

The necro build is anti-melee. If warriors killed you, you were playing it wrong.

Read up on enfeeble and syphon. Those two alone are enough to give you 66% damage reduction from warriors and +6 to +12 regen. You're also immune to condition. And then, you have 5 more skills left on the bar.

There's the rit's spirits, not a bad way to cut out some of the other team's healing.

And I've actually seen monks do a decent job healing in the costume arenas even with their less-than-glamorous skillset.

Most of the builds were made to counter some other build, and generally it's not the builds that win the game...

For the smaller map, Always try to capture the middle and defend it. Seriously I get a bunch of idiots who think that they should go out and capture the two side shrines because of the bonuses. Think about it;

if you capture the middle, you have the same amount of morale gain as the other team. BUT there is one key fact that most neglect. In order for the other team to capture the outside points, they have to split their team in half, OR go as a group and capture them one by one. This means that:

A) They come at you in groups of two and three, meaning that if your entire team is at the middle, they are no match for you.

B) If they mob up and organize themselves to attack, try to kite them away from the points while the rest of your team takes down a couple other teammates. You seriously wouldn't believe how stupid whammos are.. They will follow you anywhere.. Even across the map.. If your team just gets wiped, tell your entire team to defend the middle as hard as they can. A singular area is much easier to defend as opposed to two outer points.

For the much bigger map, I have a strategy that hasn't failed me yet. Kite and Capture. I ran as a ranger, which means I can capture easily. I tell another with a running skill to go to the right alongside myself, and we capture the three points to the right and meet up with your team at the left river. This Always works.

As long as you can convince your team to follow these plans, you will win.

Maps:

Note* if you successfully defeat their entire team, tell your team to rush their base..

Now I played ranger throughout all of these games, so here are a few tips for rangers only!

1) Do not use Apply Poison.. There's just no point.. Kite people as a ranger. Use Pin down-->Run away-->Burning arrow spam-->run away-->re-use Pin down-->Rinse, lather, repeat.

2) KITE!! Do not fight if you have a warrior trying to gank you! Put up Natural stride and get far enough away to use pin down, then spam burning arrow and keep pin down up. The more people, and the longer you can kite, the better your team is!

3) When fighting a spellcaster, use Burning arrow Sparingly . Burning arrow is mainly for damage. But you have plenty of others on your team to deal damage. Try to spam savage shot an Distracting shot as much as possible, using Burning arrow very little..

Hope this helps you at brawl!
