The easiest way to manage your money is by budgeting yourself. Many players get rich quick by applying some basic accounting skills to their personal economies.
1) Separate your equipment wishlist into two columns - what you want, and what you need. For example, a max weapon is an example of a need, but a Leet N00b-Slaying Sword of Uberness is an example of a want. 2) Go down the column of needs, and use the wiki to work out if you could get any of those needs from a collector. Making use of collectors can save an awful lot of money that you can put towards your wants column later. 3) Prioritise your list of wants. Would you rather have some flashier armor, a flashier weapon, or some new skills first? Decide on which of your wants is the greatest, and only go for one want at a time. It's much easier to start budgeting for things if you only have one goal in mind at a time. 4) Work out what your sources of income are and where you can cut corners. Completing quests is one option - you can get a good deal of money this way, and for quests in Factions and Nightfall you can also get commendations from quests that you can trade at quartermasters for adventuring supplies. Needless to say, take advantage of these commendations - you can save an awful lot of money in this way (in the order of several hundred platinum over the course of time) when it comes to ID and salvage kits; the things that you're always going to need to deal with drops, and transmute general drops into more valuable things. 5) If you want to save for some prestige armor or get a weapon crafted, the issue of gathering materials comes up. The general rule of materials is to not buy them unless you absolutely have to. A great deal of different materials drop from monsters, and as you kill these monsters to get the material drops you're looking for you're going to get a lot of other drops as well - raw cash and other miscellaneous items. There are only a few materials that have never been observed to drop from monsters, and these are the ones you need to get in an alternative way (iron, steel, elonian leather, damask etc). For iron or steel, salvage weapon drops. If it looks like it has metal in it, odds are you'll be able to salvage some metal out of it. For other rare materials that never drop like elonian leather, vellum or damask, pay a visit to an artisan before you visit a rare material trader and compare costs. It's possible to save a good deal of money by using one over the other, depending on current prices. |

Tips if you accumulate a moderate amount of money and want some nice skinned weapons:
Remember NEVER to EVER buy req 7, 8, or 9 weapons, at least for now. If you want a rare skin go for the high reqs, they do the same everything regarding you meet the requirement and cost a lot cheaper. Also don't buy perfect mods for now, -1 health or -1% percentage is absolutely NOTHING. its a minuscule amount. Only buy max stuff that either not very wanted (vampiric and +armor are the best examples) or sold by some noob who doesn't know pricing. Visit the Giveaway section for some nice high req imperfect stuff, free golds, no cost to you, only problem is you will have to be patient. |

I can say that the OP has been very frugle with money regarding skills, since skills still cost 800 gp each for him.
As other people have said, spend only on what is necessary. Since you don't farm, sell runes you don't use to the rune trader. I sold my Rune of Minor Vigor to the merchant for 1.8k. So I'm guessing people keep buying them from the traders. Economics plays a part in GW as it does in real life. Supply and demand, accumulate as many materials as possible (sell when you have 250 of 1 material) to the materials guy. Do not sell to the merchant, as the Materials guy may buy from you for more (but only buys 10 at a time). After buying every single skill I can from Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall (except for the Dervish), and some skills from GWEN, as well as having some 15k armors from some of my characters, I'm still at 150k. It is doable to maintain money, just make sure you sell the right things to the right people at the right times. |

Money is only really an issue if you feel you absolutely have to have an armour set/item with a particular skin. You can get prefectly functional armour and weapons that do exactly the same damage/defence from collectors or lower lvl armour crafters. Even better is the tip about actually using higher req weapons you find.
My 2 year old ele runs around in a mix of Droks and some other 1.5k pieces and uses a modded crafter fire staff |

Sell EVERYTHING you're not using to a Merchant (excluding ID Kits & Superior Salvage kits).

Unless that new weapon is a Fiery Dragon Sword or Fiery Gladius (or some other special case), you can change the fire damage part but using a different upgrade - for a Sword, it would be the Hilt. At any rate, different damage types work differently in various situations. Although some types might be considered "best", the differences are small. You don't need to change your secondary to use the Fiery weapon. |

Here's another thought.
AB and turn your faction into jadeite and sell it. If you don't have a level 20 toon atm, make one in pvp and go from there. It can become tedious but it really starts to add up if you want to make cash. As well as doing all the quests - those are also helpful as many have said. You can level up and get cash at the same time (yay) |

Here's a random tip if you can expert salvage gold runes without breaking the armor and not worth much you can still ID the rune again I find it usually goes 150+ not much but every little helps as well as the armor itself which can be anything from a 100-300 gold. It's not much but every little helps when your strapped for cash right?

Great Suggestions and all in this thread, but no one has mentioned running. Running, I find, is way more profitable than running.. I recently started running Droks on my dervish, and I recently bought:
-New 15k armor -An Urgoz Longbow -A new caster Zodiac axe for my runner All of these cost a pretty penny, but by running droks you can make 20k in about 1hour- 1 hour an 30 minutes.. So much efficient than running.. |

In the category "general method to get the best out of what you find", I noticed that salvaging silk from spider webs costs you the 16 golds corresponding to the cost of using the salvage kit (400/25=16), while selling them to the rare material crafter will earn you 15 (at the moment). Can this be a profitable way to make money for some rare material? (of course You should do that only after you have a big amount of the rare material in your storage account, so as to spare the money to buy them back when you need them, silk costs 100g) Last edited by Fril Estelin; Nov 01, 2007 at 10:23 AM // 10:23.. |

To the OP: My suggestion would be to go ahead and buy the other 2 campaigns. If you enjoy playing this game, you'll find that your world and enjoyment will expand greatly by getting more content and more skills. If money is an issue, just start saving up. The games themselves aren't very expensive when compared to others. (Or start dropping hints for Christmas presents ) |
