Questions about buying bulk un-ID golds
I was in Lions Arch and saw someone selling max un-ID golds, 7 of them for 4.3k total. So I did this and the person had another character open trade with me. I did the trade because this I figure is a great deal, considering I used to see un-ID golds go for 1k each a while back in Kaineng.
After the trade, the person opened trade again and I was okay with that, I was going for my wisdom title. My treasure title track was starting to creep up(it grows faster since most chest drops aren't gold where I chest run). This went on a few times and I said I had enough and thanks. The person struck a little better deal, I forgot what it was. So I was okay. Then it was 8 for 4k, twice. So I did it. I got my wisdom title track almost to lvl 3, just need 11 more points. After IDing them and selling back to the merchant, I made some money back and salvaged an assortment of max mods like staff heads, bow strings, and even a bow enchant 20% mod. So it didn't cost that much money with the money I got back. Well okay, now to my questions. *I've seen this before and I'm wondering, how are people able to get that many un-ID golds? Do they do constant chest running? *Why would they rather sell them rather than ID them for their own wisdom title track? Do they only care about the treasure hunter title track? Even if their wisdom track is maxed out, might as well ID them on another character. *Do they just look for valuable and rare chest drops and disregard the rest? I know the person wasn't a bot because he/she was responsive with whisper messages. Does anyone here do stuff like this? Last edited by Linksys; Sep 05, 2007 at 02:33 PM // 14:33.. |

Typically it goes like this: All they want is gold so they can sell it for real money. It costs them time ($$) to ID/Salvage/Sell so it's cheaper in the long run for them to sell UnID'd.

If, on the off chance it wasn't a bot, one reason could be that they had a good idea that they were crappy weapons and new they could get more money buy selling them unid than buy iding them themselves.

Answer is pretty simple...Not everyone cares about titles.
To some they are completely pointless other than to show off to others who could care less that you wasted your time trying to get some silly title. |

Thing is the wisdom title has a practical purpose. It makes it more likely you keep your lockpick instead of breaking it when you use it. With only lvl 2 on my wisdom and treasure title tracks, my lock picks break more often than not despite the supposed 50% chance plus a little bonus from the titles I have. And I don't have any luck title. When I get lvl 3 on wisdom and treasure, then I may try the lockpick thing again.
I'm not so sure if the person was a bot. The one who did the trade was expecting the amount agreed upon before accepting the trade. If the person was selling the gold for real money, I would think it would be faster to do hero fast faction farming(which is faster than with people running) with three heroes and four other accounts in the same party, getting 5 times the reward money per run. Not that I'm giving anyone any ideas. I'm just not sure if this person was selling ingame gold outside the game. |

It's just the bot runner/farmers selling off their redundant gold drops.
They will test all drops beforehand, any found to be 15^50 or have decent mods (+30hp, 20/20 etc) will be kept and salvaged/sold (mind you since inscriptions came out they prob dump most the common skinned items). Any golds with crap mods will be sold on as unid's. They maximize profit this way, because nothing goes to waste. A large gold site will prob run a thousand or so bots 24/7 (with others in pre-sear ready to go) that will generate a lot of golds.

They are the real life people that over see the 100s of computers running bots. I think Gaile recently mentioned you will not be banned for buying Unided golds. |

yes along with the we are working on banning bots.. but yet you never see a decline...... I was tempted to get a separate account and see how long it would be b-4 i got banned by anet as a experiment .. not like i would but it would be interesting to see there response. I really think they need to hire people to write reports or be able to send in info on who should be banned bot wise. Cause it really is getting out of hand

When trading, there was a live person doing the trade. But if they use bots to get those un-ID golds, I don't want to harbor them by buying them.

its a never ending cycle. In Asian countries there are literally tens of thousands of Gold Gamers who get paid less then us to farm all day and bot so that they can make money off of us.. so just be careful when doing things.. we don't want to support the market that exploits people like that.

Its like saying that people shouldn't buy coffee from startbucks because they endorse low wages and high hours. FFS, don't buy gold from gold farmers because its against the RULES. Don't make it out to be a moral epidemic you need to spare the starving masses from. |

actually i was stating the facts .. most don't get paid and they don't get loads of money its literally a sweatshop. here is a link to back up my rant
http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3141815.. not everyone is legal and for what its worth gw is on that boundary as far as bot farming goes. |

Keep in mind that money is a relative commodity. I don't buy from gold farmers because its against the EULA and because I know it screws up the in game economy.
From a moral standpoint though, gold farmers make more money that most people in that part of the world. |
