First off, it's based off numbers
Like Pre Searing Ascalon Dis 1 Pre Searing Ascalon Dis 2 Higher numbers obviously will always have more people. Best starting profession is the warrior. They're strong and you can get a hang of the game fairly quickly. If you're more of a spell caster then the elementalist is your second best choice. |

Guild Wars splits PvE and PvP into two totally separate things. All PvP takes place in arenas (the majority of which are on their own map) while PvE is everywhere else. If you start off with a roleplaying character, you will start off in the PvE game and can later go to the PvP arenas when you feel comfortable.
Don't worry too much about servers in PvE, as GW works with a territory/district system. You choose your territory when you set up your account, and you can hop between territories once you get into the game too. When you land in an outpost, look up at the top left corner of your screen. You should see a blue bar that says something like "Ascalon City American English District 1". "Ascalon City" is the name of the outpost that you would be in. "American" is the territory that you are in. "English" is the default language for the district that you are in (this is more important for the European territories though, as we have more languages in use here) and "District 1" is the number of the district that you have landed in. Each district can only hold a certain number of players, and when one district fills up a new district is created to hold more people. If you click on this blue bar you can move to a new territory, another district of the same language, or a district that uses a different language. This system allows you to meet up with anybody, anywhere, anytime. If you find yourself in a quiet district, you can see if the other districts are busier. As far as picking a noob-friendly profession goes, Guns Up! hit the nail on the head perfectly. The Warrior and Elementalist are the most straightforward professions to pick up and learn the basics of the game with. |

No. GW isn't set up like other online games where you have to choose a server.
People are confusing districts with servers. |

I started with an ele, so not everyone wants to do melee, the other choice made by many is ranger.....depends on what kind of playing you want to do.
Welcome to the game and enjoy playing! |

I also started with a ranger because they're about as easy to learn as a warrior but they are played differently. Rangers are a good all around class that can do a variety of things, but don't get into some of the more complex features/concepts/whatevers of the game.
In short: I would start out with a "trinity class": warrior, ranger, or elementalist. |

So to answer the OP's question: you do not have to worry about that, it's automatically taken care of by the game. And to choose your profession, first read that: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Profession Last edited by Fril Estelin; Nov 09, 2007 at 07:37 AM // 07:37.. |

Ritualists are easy yes, but Prophecies is the best chapter to start with. You level up more slowly so you find it easier to get into the game. As for your starting profession, play anything you like - they all do their seperate thing but some professions are more difficult to play for a new player than others. You don't need to be a neurologist to play a warrior, whereas as a mesmer, you might find it harder to be effective in PvE.

Ranger is a good PvE starter profession. You can get used to the general mechanics of how the game works, while standing back from the battle to stay out of trouble (sometimes, somewhat ). |
