About the future of Guild Wars.
I think Guild Wars is a fantastic game. I am just coming back to it after playing WoW for about 2 year(the game finally just got very very very boring). What initially turned me off about Guild Wars was it was geared more to PvP players IMO(there was a good amount of content for PvE but a lot of end game stuff was geared towards PvP i think). Hopefully Eye of the North will change my opinion of that. Now when i try to compare Guild Wars And world of Warcraft, I think that World of Warcraft has more stuff but what guild wars does, it does it better then World of warcraft. I just have a few question on what i think might make Guild Wars better and wondering if any of these thing are being looked at for Guild Wars 2.
End Game Content: I think one of the best things WoW did was end game content. The end game content is was keeping me the game(the fact the i use the same spell about 75-80% or the time, if not more, was the killing fact). The raids the WoW has are good, I still think 25 man raid is quite a bit(but a lot better than 40's like that had). Now instead of raid you have missions. Now i am not sure if the eye of the night dungeons act like missions. Now i think if you added the similar feature to end game mission which being able to save boss kills would be a great enhancement. I mean if i killed all bosses and then die on the last one and have to restart, that kinda suxs. You can also make the bosses hard since you would not have to start from the beginning. Professions: This is just a nice something extra to have. Also with something like jewelcrafting, added socketed items adds a little to item customization too. Auction Hall: This is almost a needed or sell items becomes a very very very very very dull process. I think everything else currently in Guild Wars is very well done, i really like the skill/spell system. If anyone know anything about these few areas of th game that would be great. |

WoW has alot more to offer then GW but WoW is a Multi Million dollar game that costs a bullshlt 15 Dollars a month and Guildwars is FREE per month. so of course Guildwars is and may be lacking ALOT of diffrent things but then again you say that Guildwars is formed towards PvP more. And let me ask you one thing? Where the hell did you just come from?
WoW is the Game of PvP its way more Formed around PvP then Guildwars could EVER be there is even Servers just for PvP. So lol man I dont get how you say that Guildwars is formed around PvP more then PvE. But then again this is "GuildWars" I would be guessing that the Name of the Game even suggests some sort of PvP Action so its no surpize if GW would be a little more based around PvP. But then again im just one thought but you cant ignore Facts. EDIT. Endgame on wow sucks thats all it is anyways Endgame you waste 6 months of your life for WoW to get to endgame and you end up finding out your not even close to Endgame of anything untill your fully geared up in T4 T5 or T6 and you and your Guild Run the Alleince or Horde. Also Crafting and jewlmaking etc does not fit in with the Guildwars Gameplay or engine and I could see it never beeing added. All those extra things are just a Grind and thats what would make Guildwars a crappy game.... Last edited by Nightmare_Pwner; Nov 08, 2007 at 01:54 AM // 01:54.. |

Guildwars is supposed to be about skill over loot. It's supposed to be the game where a casual player can get the max weapon or max armor, and compete on even footing w/ the "pros" - that's one of the reasons why there are PvE only skills - they can be better than regular skills, but are excluded from PvP to maintain balance. It's also one of the reasons every class has some way of healing themselves - so you don't *just* need the meat shield-caster-priest trinity.
GW, to me at least, is also the game that grind forgot - it's easy to get to max level, and you don't waste a lot of time traveling. I've played WoW, and let me tell you - the 30-40% increase in speed from a mount, which you cannot even fight on, is laughable, not to mention the extremely vague quest instructions and shoddy graphics. GW is no graphics powerhouse, but you can see a lot of care was taken w/ most of the characters - little tassels move when you walk, characters blink, things just look pretty. Anyway, not only is there no monthly fee to play, but the fact that the game allows you to put together an AI controlled team if you don't want to or can't find a team, makes things a bit easier as well. |

I think the fact that you don't pay, right off the bat makes it more appealing to me than WoW. A lot of my friends tell me that WoW gets boring fairly quick and I've been playing Guild Wars for only about 6 months but it hasn't really lost its touch.
Would it even be worth my time to invest in WoW? |

I am talking about end game. After you have finished GW main missions and got to level 20, most people PvP(cause what else is there?). They don't offer a lot end game PvE content that WoW has(i have not seen what eye of the north has). When you hit 70 in WoW, it is really about raiding, not PvP for most people(at least on my old server). Grant you a lot of people PvP at 70, but raiding is the big thing. That is what i am talking about with GW being PvP more than WoW. |

I don't understand why people are so hung up on the whole "I beat the game so what now" type of stuff. If you enjoyed playing the game, then *THAT* was the all you ever hope for or expect. If you're looking for more than that, well you're not going to find it. The reason PvP is often looked to as end-game content is because most experienced players can easily prove to be more of a challenge than the AI.
You cannot compare a fee based game to a free to play one, either. |

imo dont come into GW expecting a WoW style grind fest, cos that it is not, its more of a sort of massivley co-operative/multiplayer online action rpg p.s. as for non combatant proffesions such as jewel crafting etc, if wat ur suggesting is anything like how it is in wow then it doesnt belong here, GW is good cos of its gameplay aspects and boring pont and click grind [of sorts] doesnt belong in it - however if they were to introduce and make these proffesions more interesting to play then they are currently in mmo's...... Guild wars is based around skill as opposed to loot; as been said before many many times by many many people.
Imo as a WoW player (in the past), they do have a lot more content (probably because of subsription, and bigger fan-base) Also WoW grind is incomparable to Guild Wars... don't even start with the equipment talk |

wow MAY have more content but its ALL THE SAME. IE GRIND this dungeon so you can get the gear to go GRIND the next one. wow is nothing but grind.
There is NO REQUIRED grind in GW. I know people will disagree and say otherwise but there is nothing you NEED to play GW that requires you to grind. Now there is stuff you can WANT that requires grind but nothing you NEED to play. Actually MOST people do NOT pvp when they beat the chapter the first time. Because there is allways more stuff to do. As much as I myself might hate pvp If thats what you want, then I can't think of more balanced or organized pvp enviorment than GW. |

If you want to play Guild Wars, do not compare it to WoW. They're 2 whole different games.
