which combination of professions?
Hi guys
i'm new to guild wars and still actually downloading the client! but i've done some reading on this great site and have just a question about profession. i like the idea of a warrior as primary but i'm uncertain about my secondary. I thought a nice combination would be elementalist - fire or... Ranger. can you advise me what benefits? and maybe what other profession would go nice / what benefits i'd get ? --- also I'd like to ask, how long does it take of play time till you can get a nice set of armors etc. --- also can you get horses or stuff like that in this game? or maybe transform into animals (seen it in other games) Last edited by fatjoez; Nov 12, 2007 at 09:20 PM // 21:20.. |

You can try out each profession in pre-sear or the starter island depending on what game you have purchased. You can also change it later in the game so your decision is not set in stone, only the warrior primary decision is.
Monk is a common secondary choice for warriors because it provides healing and condition removal. You can get max armour at Droknors Forge which you get to about level 20, can't really give you a time frame because it is different for everyone. No horses or mounts, there is fast travel so it really is not needed. no animal tranformations, although there are items which allow you to morph into another creature but it for cosmestic purposes only. |

do you know rough estimate of how long it can take if you play the quests and no stuffing around etc.
im getting the original btw. whats pre-sear/starter island. by the way i read something somewhere that you can do a PVP island where you start at max level armor choice etc etc and can just fight. Is that in one of the expansions or what |

pre-searing/starter island are the tutorial areas. In the original game, its called pre-searing Ascalon (you'll find out why in the plotline). In the other games, you start off the game on Islands off the main coast (Istan and Shing Jing Islands).
And you can create level 20 PvP characters with any of the games. So you can do that now if you want. I would suggest you play at least a little bit of PvE first though so you can understand the basics. Each person's play style is different. No way to estimate how long it could take you. |

That means that you have to set up a game account first. You'll be able to do that when you first start the game by clicking "Create Account or add access key" on the main login screen.
Once you do that, you can log in and use the in-game store to buy the games you want to be able to play. The in-game store and the plaync.com store are basically the same with the same prices. Although personally, I would buy the boxed versions from a retail outlet as they are usually cheaper than what's on offer at the in-game store. Everybody sees the Eye of the North logo at the login screen no matter what campaigns you have, so don't worry; you haven't downloaded the wrong thing. When it comes to buying the games, you can start with Prophecies, Factions or Nightfall. All of these three games allow you to create new characters. To play Eye of the North, you need to already have at least one of the first three games and import in an existing max level character; and Eye of the North is all high level content so it's really designed for players who have already completed one of the other games. |

ok my next problem is then.
me being a new user having just downloaded the client, i want to purchase the access key online & play. But... when i go into the game I have only 2 options: create account or add access key. Create account asks for access key!!! so I can't create the account! I have registered on plaync.com an account but have not yet purchased the access key as I'm uncertain how to proceed what now? PS: plaync store is VERY SLOW/ down at the moment. so that's the icing on the cake Last edited by fatjoez; Nov 13, 2007 at 05:29 AM // 05:29.. |

An access key can do one of two things. It can be used to create a new account, or you can add an access key to an existing account (ie, if you buy the newer game/expansion later and add it to the older original game, you will add to your existing account, rather then make a new one).
Never used the online store before. Can't tell you where you should go to buy stuff. |

Another option is to go to Best Buy and buy a boxed version of the game. If you do go that route, don't buy Eye of the North without buying another one with it. When you buy the box, it comes with an access key that you can use to create an account.
