R/E Advice
I'm a lvl15 Ranger and I've gotten quite a few Ranger and Ele skills now, so I'm wanting to give a bit more thought to my skill loadout. Right now I'm having a hard time understanding the usefulness of a Pet, because you have to carry Charm Animal and a animal healing skill just to make them worth the time, and then if you had an attack or two then you've got, what, two skills left for your Ranger? And I'm not using a single Ele skill at all right now, which doesn't feel right. Please advise.

Rangers, arguably moreso than any other profession, are not very reliant upon a secondary profession. Don't feel bad about not using it.
As for your pet, keep dragging it around until it hits level 20. Then you can forget about it for a while. They're not exactly useful unless you are willing to allocate attribute points and skill slots to them. |

They no longer provide exploitable corpses. Either drop the pet or become a beastmaster. Unless you're using Conjure ______, there's zero ele skills I would see fit for a ranger.

Beastmasters work quite well you just have to get into the mindset that your bow is jut there to draw enemies and choose targets.
With beast attacks that heal poison cripple and protect you can do quite well especially if all the bad guys are attacking your pet not you. Ranger Ele works well with conjour to add damage. With points in marksmanship and fire, you can boost damage considerably, There is a ranger spirit that adds 6 damage and a preparation that adds 10 to that I used a firey bow and conjour flame. Damage was really good and if I had to retreat the spirit tended to hold them up while I set up another attack plan. Works with barrage too or apply poison although barrage removes the +10 preperation. Something like slothshot or screaming arrow works very well too as you can spike high damage. other experiments I have tried some successful others less so. Ranger ritualist Splinter weapon worked pretty well but not amazing. Ranger assassin Experiment to use assassin skills to boose damage Still working on that one not sure if Assassin with a bow is better than Ranger with assassin skills. |
