damage on armour 60?
I've always thought 100 ele dmge on a an armour lvl 60 foe would be 100 dmge, but for odd reasons when I noticed many spellcaster enemies and the armour lvl 60 target at isle of Nameless took only 103 dmge when i casted spirit rift on it which should hit at 120 lightning damage. Same thing with my Ancestor's Rage which was 117 lightning damage but the armour 60 target only took 100 dmge.
Anyone know why? ps. I'm lvl 17, haven't asceneded and only completed 1 of 15 attribute quests if that helps. |

There are different factors, like armor penetration, and what piece of armor gets hit. It's kind of complicated.
Spells like Obsidian Flame will always do the amount it says though, because it ignores armor.

yea, but isn't the normal armour level 60? which means 100 dmge will end up as 100 dmge in the end? and I also tried it on the target thing whos armour lvl is always 60 and my full output of dmge still didn't come out.
on armour lvl 60 120=120 right? but for me it's 120=103 117=100 huh? glitch, new update, suggestions? Also I had no armour-ignoring, or armour penentration spells. |

It's because you are level 17. You need to be level 20 to do full damage to AL 60 enemies.
Edit: To clarify the numbers you are seeing: 120 * 2^((3*17-60)/40) = 102.67 117 * 2^((3*17-60)/40) = 100.10 Last edited by StormLord; Nov 25, 2007 at 01:59 AM // 01:59.. |

60 armor still reduces dmg, however most Ele air magic has armor pen on it and armor under 60 will take full + some dmg.
In PvE I'm not certian if any Insignias or armor bonuses are on monsters, if so you will get a variasion of dmg from several foes of the same class and lvl. |

Your right, just tested my fire ele and indeed Flare at 50 damage does hit for 50 damage vs the 60AL dummy. The Air magic all has 25% armor pen and hit for larger amounts than listed vs the 60AL dummies. However in PvE you can't really be certain of what armor lvl your foe is. They may have an off hand or weapon with +5 armor or +10 armor vs X or they may even have insignias that will affect dmg amounts. |

Sometimes eles have aeromancer, pyromancer, geomancer, or hydromancer insignias which raise their AL against their respective elements so that could mess up your results if you're using elemental damage.
