Normally GW downloads most of the content in the background while you play. This sometimes means downloading some files when you load into a new map. What -image does is force the client to download every file you need at once, so you don't have to download in the background or while loading a map. This can be a pretty big download, so it's usually best to do something else in the meantime or let it run overnight. Also, when the game loads with -image, it won't actually let you play. So either make a second shortcut for normal play or remove the -image when you want to play.

What this is doing is downloading all the files for the game, saving you from having to download them as you progress (e.g. first time entering a zone, you usually have to download files for it). Let it load and finish its thing and then you won't have to download any more files as you are playing the game (other then new game updates of course). Also remember when the game has finished downloading everything, to remove the -image tag.
