Just returned to the game
It's been a long time since I've played Guild Wars. I believe I played GW during the first 3-4 month of game release in NA but then I followed a few friends to other games. But now I'm back and I did purchase the other expansions. I now have Prophecies, Nightfall and Factions loaded now and I have a lot of questions.
My big question is where do I continue on where I left the previous game? I have a L.20 Elementalist, L.20 Monk and a L.17 Necro. I like to team with others and I also like to solo/hench my way in learning new skills and elite skills. I made my Elementalist for soloing and to have fun. I made my Necro for teaming. I'm ashamed to say I made my Monk for farming but I heard that's been nerfed. To tell everyone the truth, I really only made the farming Monk just to see what all the talk was about the build. It was the last character I was using before I left so it really didn't see that much action. But it was fun watching my Monk take on those desert Hydras. Sorry for rambling but back to my question. How do all the expansion fit together and what paths should I follow? Also one dumb question. Can a character be too high level to learn a skill from a low level boss? |

So it it pretty obvious in how to move from one expansion to the next or do you need to go through some huge quest chain to be granted access? |

I'm assuming that right now you have Prophecies Native characters only. These characters can travel to Lion's Arch and pick up the "crossover" quests to access the other campaigns. (A big box will pop up telling you who to talk to when you enter town)
However these characters will join the Factions and Nightfall campaigns "mid-story" so to speak. They will not have access to the beginner level quests. I'd recommend creating new native characters in those campaigns and start exploring them that way first. Then you can bring over your Tyrian characters later. But it's up to you. If you want to explore with your existing chars first, there is nothing wrong with that. |

Raven had a good idea, start new chars from the other chapters. However when you get time, move your old characters to NF and GWEN to pick up the heros. You dont have to do very many quests to just get the heros unlocked on that character. Then Id finish factions first with a factions born char, then finish NF with the nightfall born char. But getting the heros on the other characters is a big help if you need to use your old chars.
THe characters you can unlock quickly are : Mo/? Ogden? (get him when you enter GW:EN) Mo/? Tahlkora (Kamadan: Nightfall) Mo/? Dunkoro (Kamadan: Nightfall) W/? Koss (Kamadan: Nightfall) D/? Melonni (Kamadan: Nightfall) E/? Vekk (get him when you enter GW:EN) E/? Souske or R/? Jin (able to unlock them after 2 short quests and a short walk out of Kamadan) N/? Olias (can get from Lions arch mission) A/? Zenmai (can get from Kaineng center mission) Me/? Gwen (get her after a short trip to Eye of the North after entering GW:EN) Last edited by Wirt; Dec 21, 2007 at 07:08 PM // 19:08.. |

Also in regards to capturing elites, there has been a change with Factions, Nightfall and GW:EN. In prophecies the bosses spawned in certain areas, but the spawns in those areas were kinda random and you werent guranteed to find the boss in that location, so the trip to cap an elite may have been for naught. In Factions, Nightfall and GW:EN, the bosses will be in only that location and are always there. So capping elites in the other chapters is a bit easier.
