Running is not something Anet ever intended to exist in the game. It is not a "feature," players do it because they can. In fact its so hard now because the programmers you speak of have taken steps to try to exterminate it.

Its really easy with dervish either avatar of balthazar or VoS. It takes a few tries but i can make it about 90% of the time with avatar of balthazar and mabye 85% (cause im not as good) with VoS

assassins and dervishes run it the best. ive run it a few times on my derv and i dual ran it with my warrior (how i did it ill never know) so it definetily isnt impossible
