Scatter!
Ok, so I decided I would join a PuG *gasp* (ya it wasn't a good idea) for FoW. So the typical tank (OF) aggroes and ping for us to attack. I use Rodgorts Invocation and suddenly these people start going crazy.. "omfg who is using burning, it scatters the foes". So my question is... does burning cause the foes to scatter? I mean, I know firestorm and other AoE nukes cause scatter and it has been well over 2 years now that I have been playing and its the first time I hear someone say that burning will scatter the foes.
Thanks, Molock |

No. At least not in other areas of the game. When I used fire, I used Mark of Rodgort all the time. It didn't cause scatter. It's only when AoE is brought into it they will.

I've played Ele a LOT for over 18 months now and i've never, ever heard that burning causes scatter. To my knowledge the only thing that causes scatter is repeated, AoE hits from spells/skills like firestorm and the like.
I'd say you joined a bad PUG. |

From my experience it has been Fire Storm that causes the scatter.

omfg don't use Poison they will scatter noob!
Seriously I never saw mobs running away from conditions. PUGs become even more stupid as the game gets older ... |

Burning does not cause scatter, only AoEs. They probably just see the burning and assume you are are using something else like SF. Its a pug anyway, so you shouldn't expect much in terms people paying attention to those details.

Ele from a week after release. No. tell those people (if they're still on your list) that they're dumbasses, and burning does not cause foes to "scatter".

Lol, you can tell it was a bad PuG because they were using a tank in FoW

No, burning does not cause scatter.
What you winessed is merely more evidence than humanity is breeding itself in extinction. |

One more reason I dislike joining PuGs. You join a forming group and have to argue with some people about your build because they are poor studies of the game. I sometimes keep a local AoE spell on the end of my bar for those times when a not-so-adept tank runs back through our casters instead of holding aggro and brings the mob with him.

Anyway, no, burning in of itself does not cause AoE scatter. Rodgort's Invocation shouldn't either, since its just one packet of damage + burning. Spells like Firestorm, Savannah Heat, Searing Heat, etc do, because they're AoE damage-over-time. However if your team wasn't built around a retarded archaic tank strategy, scatter wouldn't really have been a concern anyway. I still have faith that someday, people in Guild Wars are going to wake up and realize that these areas are not so hard with up-to-date builds and stop using OF tanks. |

I did FoW recently where the party leader was a warrior that was determined to use the tanking method. I nearly chewed my hand off from the aggravation.
