For storyline, it's obvious to go Factions -> Nightfall -> EotN.
But, Factions is rather blowing today, so it would do you best to skip it and go straight to Nightfall. After that, choosing between Factions and EotN depends. After you acquire a good number of heroes, you may find a lot of builds out of your reach because of not having Factions, since Factions offers over 300 skills you'll be missing out on, compared to just 150 from EotN. On the other hand, you may want to continue playing what everyone else is for the player involvement. EotN would then be the right choice for you. |

It's taken me awhile to finally appreciate how truly awesome Nightfall is. I'd say it's a tie between that and Factions, but Heroes might tip NF in favor.

Oh the beauty of heroes : ) They're essentially customizable henchmen that you can give weapons to and change their skill bars with anything you have unlocked on your account. You can have a max of three in your party, but that's just enough to steamroll ze game.

1st, welcome back!
i suggest you going for NF before Faction and EoTN, with NF you will find out that heros are quite helpful. |

I found Nightfall to be less of a grind than Factions, you might enjoy that more. At the very least, the heroes will be a big help in case you are having trouble looking for groups (which it incredibly difficult since people began to use them).
Read up on them on the wiki and in the "Heroes and AI" section, you'll see what I mean. |

I'm finding it impossible to find a party at the ember light camp for this quest.

Quit while you're ahead!
But seriously... Get a combo pack with all of them if you can, those are cheap. Stick with your Prophecy character and go through GW:EN -> Nightfall -> Factions with him. The most important thing about GW is having 1 dedicated main character. Why? BEcause when GW2 comes out, thats who you'll need to get all the bonuses through hall of monuments. So step by step. Steps 1) Get all the expansions, doesn't matter the order. 2) Figure out what your main character will be, its really up to you, but for PvE I wouldn't suggest Mesmer. You'll have an easy time with Warrior, Monk, Elementalist, Necromancer; Rangers are good also if you don't mind not finding a group all the time. If... you already have a character developed pretty far into the game (sounds like you do), just stick with him. Hope you like how he looks and what his name is, because you can't change it. 3) Take that main character through all of the campaigns. But for maximum productivity the order of the chapters is key, take him to GW:EN to get heroes quickly and easily. You'll also get pretty big rewards including decent items, imba PvE skills, and gold early on with quests, making the other campaigns much easier. Then go through Nightfall, get a complete set of heroes, learn how to Sabway or Paraway (you can find a link on this forum). Finally go through Factions. It would be wise to earn Masters and do the bonuses on these as well, so you don't find yourself redoing missions later when you aim for titles. 4) Learn how to farm with that character (almost every profession can), Get rich, Buy rich people stuff. 5) Title grind, because you'll be able to put all your titles in the HoM (Hall of Monuments). Why do this? When GW2 comes out, some how the two will be correlated resulting in veteran GW1 players who have made "achievements" be able to get some sort of balanced benefit in GW2. Lessons you'll have to Learn 1) Pick up Groups, commonly known as PuG groups are atrocious. You'll find yourself offended and feel like your team has more enemies among them then the environment you're fighting in. So this is why heroes are necessary, you get them early on, and you keep them close to you. They'll be your best friends, although I wouldn't recommend talking to them, they're kinda dull. 2) High end PvP is a large leap, you'll probably have the best experience by wetting your feet in both Random Arena, and Team Arena, while doing the PvP missions in Factions. This will give you a taste for how the game mechanics can change drastically. 3) PvE skills are an even better friend then Heroes, abuse them till your heart's delight. 4) Don't bother trading or buying, its a waste of time and money. (This changes as you get rich and simply don't care about paying for over priced rarities) But to put it simply, use what you find, and craft cheap max damage weapons. 5) Eliteness isn't needed, you don't have to have gold weapons and 15k armor, they simply cost more and result in some players criticizing you. Thats basically the "smartest" way to play GW. If you make multiple characters steps 3-5 will be repeated until the point of annoyance, thats how many people quit the game. They make 4-5 characters, get them all decently far, then get pissed because none of them really excel in specific and find themselves swamped by goals they'll never be able to achieve. So as stated earlier having a main character that you'll NEVER get tired of is essential! Last edited by Nevin; Jan 13, 2008 at 09:51 PM // 21:51.. |

My suggestion to you would be finish off Prophecies, after that play it for a little while get to learn it again. If you get bored and are all caught up then you might want to consider buying Factions, NF, or EoTn

There are some outposts/towns that have very little traffic now. Most of the Fire Island ones for sure. Also the Maguuma area is quiet in Prophesies. There are some towns in Factions that are pretty bad also. So for that reason alone, I'd suggest buying Nightfall next as it is the most recent non-expansion game.
