Are collector items scaled?
I'm just wondering if collector items are affected by loot scaling. Basically I've begun farming destroyer cores to craft some weapons and well if they're scaled theres no real point in me farming them solo

The only items exempt from scaling are: Skill Tomes Insight and Passages Scrolls Dyes Rare crafting materials All rare (gold) items All unique (green) items Special event items I do not think cores qualify as a "rare crafting material." |

What weapons do you craft with Destroyer cores, as a matter of interest?

However, remember that loot scale means you get roughly 2 times what a group of eight gets. So, assuming you aren't killing things 2x as fast with the whole group (and since each wave seems to be timed you aren't) then you are better off solo farming them. My personal experience is that groups of four get pretty much exactly the same as 8 - you only start climbing up to 2 times as you get VERY close to solo.
You will note that the farmers who actually keep track of that stuff solo farm - the only time they even insinuate that there is no difference is while whining about it (and then you would think that they get worse while soloing). When it comes to actually acting on that they know they solo farm In fact, what little I have done I find I get much more than 2 times the cores soloing than I do with a group, but that may just be luck too. And, to be fair, Anet said 2x the gold and I rather suspect that "loot scale" more affects the GPH than the number of drops, but that is only a personal opinion and should be taken like any other. [edit] I will also make sure I point out that the roughly 2 times the gold is the official word from Anet also supported by many farming runs of many many people. |
