Default Help a New Necromancer

Hi, well i apologize in advance if my thread is in the wrong place but i have a question that may be pretty noob but nobody had been able to answer me.
does any1 know what negative energy and defensive sets are?
i know that they are set for the weapons but i dont know what runes/inscriptions or w/e they are or at least tell me what is the effects on the weapon.

They are different weapons sets that produces different results.
Negative energy - your weapons etc reduce your energy, used to hide it from e-denial.
Defensive set - your weaspons increase your armor.

You shouldn't worry about this sort of stuff unless you play PvP. In PvE you don't need these sorts of setups.

Um, +5 armor on offhands or you can use a shield for more + armor if you need it, and +15 energy -1 pip or -5 energy sword/axe and switch to a +5 sword/axe for 10 hidden energy, useful when going up against e-denial but it's not really needed on a necro. Monks are the only ones that really need these weapon sets. Necros aren't the primary target most of the time so you shouldn't have to worry, and if you are losing energy pump up SR or don't spam skills so often.

Negative energy set: not a lot of people bring a low energy set, due to lack of real e-denial threat, especially now that pleak is gone. Its purpose was to lower maximum energy as much as possible so that skills like energy burn wouldnt have their full effect when cast on you in that set.

Defensive set: a shield with some other weapon. Shields give half the armor when the requirement is not met, while at first seeming insignificant, it can reduce a lot of damage if combined with kiting for free. Most run something like:

Shield
16 armor (r9)
HP +30
armor +10 vs X damage type (fire, slashing, earth, etc)

Sword
+5 energy
HP +30

In total you get +60 health, 8 armor vs all damage, and 10 vs the damage type of choice.
