Item Unlocked!
I did a search here for the screen that pops up that says, "Item Unlocked" when you identify an item. What I'm still unsure of is what do I do with that item. For instance, I got one for Cruel Runic Hammer of Master.
I'm playing in PvE so is this item of any use to me? It doesn't seem all that powerful. I've read that these items are for PvP. Just wondering if I should bother keeping it. |

it means youve unlocked it to be used when creating a weapon for PvP. if you dont plan on PvP-ing, dont worry about it.

Each time you identify an modification for the first time, that item will be "unlocked" for your account. So if you make a PvP only lvl 20 character, that mod will be unlocked and available for your PvP character. If you only play PvE, it will have no bearing on your current or future play.
"Unlocked" skills on the other hand will have an effect on your current and future PvE play. When a skill is unlocked, it becomes available to your current and future Heros (if available) if you have Nightfall or Eye of the North. It effects also future play in that it makes skills available for earlier use in other characters. For example, if you currently play Warrior/Elementalist and late in the game you "unlock" Conjure Frost (elementalist skill) via side quest reward or purchase from skill trainer, that skill becomes available for any new character that you make. So your next character who is Elementalist/Monk (for example) will be able to purchase Conjure Frost from the first trainer in Ascalon, and dont have to wait till later in the game. Hope that wasnt too confusing. Have fun. |

The item has no more value/use if you get something unlocked with it than if you didn't. It just means you can use that mod on any of your PvP characters when you create their weapons.

Item mods unlocks only unlocks for pvp characters. So if you unlocked the +29 fortitude mod for the ax, and you make a pvp only warrior, and want to give him an ax, you can add the +29 mod to the ax, but not the +30 mod. You will need to unlock the +30 hp mod in pve or purchase the mod with balthazar points in order to create a PvP character with a +30 hp ax.
