Gold-trimmed cape?
I was in Shiverpeak Arena the other day when this level 7 with a gold-trimmed cape joined my group. Everyone else yelled at her but I noticed the cape so I figured there was a point. That Ranger was AMAZING.
What does the gold-trimmed cape mean? |

Gold and silver trims are awarded to the winning guilds of the yearly GvG (high end 8v8 PvP) tournament. First place gets gold, second place gets silver. At some point or another, that guild the Ranger was in won the GW World Championship (thus explaining why he was so good, was probablly like his 20th character or something).
Edit: As Vex pointed out in that link, there have only been 4 events to award these trims. I'm pretty sure [EVIL] won twice, so there are only 3 guilds in all of GW (less then 300 people in a game with 3 million) with it. |

It means they're pro. Gold trims are awarded to players and guilds who really kick arse at tournaments.

Chances are, it means you have a lot of ectos to buy either
a) an entire guild b) an invite c) a temporary invite or that you have a friend in one of those guilds who invited you. Because let's face it, with the exception of rawr, Me, and HAnD, the rest of the gold capers don't really play anymore. There are what, like 3ish players left in vD, 4ish in DF, a few from Euro gold capes, and an occasional one from the korean guilds? That's less than 50 total players who actually earned their capes playing out of the few hundred running around with one. |

the trim of cape means nothing about the player, rather than the guild they are in, as not many people are buying invites into Gold, silver, and even bronze trim cape guilds. most people scam people through this, but it does show that the people in nthese guilds are not actually pros, unless they are actually on thier GvG, or HA regular team. i used to be in a silver trim cape guild, and a lot of the players in the guild did not have much experience, and were definatly not pros, found better GvGers in a normal cape. friendship helps GVG more than haveing 4 or 5 good players
