Can someone translate this for me please?
I found this in the PvP guild recruitment forum, and I could not find its meaning in the Wiki or on this site where they define common acronyms and the such.
It says "Our req is r4+, 18+,vent+mic". I assume that it means the guild requires that your character be over level 18 and that you have vent and a mic, but I don't know what "r4+" means. What do you think? Thank you and good fortune. |

R4+ is the required rank in the Gladiator title. Some guilds require people to have a certain rank in this track to show that they have some experience in PvP.
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Gladiator <---- for more info Oh, and 18+ is age, not level. |

18+ I'm guessing is the age they're looking for. Vent is Ventrilo, a voice chatting program And Mic is...well...a mic lol. Can't chat over the interet without a mic can we EDIT: I should mention that getting a client version of Ventrilo is a free download-just Google it and you'll good to go. |

Hmm, your question would score pretty high in the Hall of Stupidity...
Ok, I'll let u slip with the: "I'm new to the game, and I have a really poor knowledge of English and abbreviations" Vent + Mic: Mic means Microphone, you don't need to play GW to know that, I actually don't know ANYONE who doesn't know Mic = Microphone... Ok, think now, Microphone... You know for a fact GW does not have a build-in Voice communiaction program. (Telephone over internet pretty much) So what does "Vent" mean? Ventrilo, a program that allows you to talk to people over the internet.... 18+, ok, just take a WILD gues, 18 is the GLOBAL age for what? Yes, adulthood. So what does 18+ mean? Yes, it means you have to over 18 years old... R4+ Is quite catchy, however, 2 minutes of wiki'ing would get you there. R4+: R (ANK) 4+, I hope you got that far. Now, type in Gw-wiki: Rank, and you'll find that rank is an incicator of how much points you have aquired in Heroes Ascent, TA or GvG... Bla Bla Bla, ask stupid questions, get stupid anwsers... Didn't mean to be offensive, but geez o.0 |

from my understanding it means
you have to r4 in HA ? or r4 gladiator aged 18+ and have vent and a mic because if it was characters have to be over lvl18 for pvp , wel they start off at lvl 20 =P, so it must be age. |

R4 could mean rank four in either Gladiator (4 v 4), Champion (GvG) or most commonly Hero (HA) title tracks. 18+ is usually an age requirement for guild members, although maturity is often considered more important than age itself.
EDIT ~ Whoah answer spike. |

He was under the assumption it meant, he wasn't sure... It's like going to a country and "assuming" Red light = stop. NO, you're 100% sure they are, otherwise that country is retarded... |

By the way, in response to your "I have a really poor knowledge of English and abbreviations" comment...I am a professional writer and certified teacher of English literature and composition...so your ignorance is more profound than it even appears on the surface. The specific abbreviation that I asked about is extremely esoteric and as such does not lend itself to an intuitive understanding. Thanks to the others who were actually helpful and answered my question. |
