Awe, Im sorry you lost your game =(

If there was just some way that they could ensure the servers being up forever, my worries would be gone lol =D that would be a miracle =D

Yes they will continue to update Guild Wars.. But they most highly likely (99.9% certain) won't add any major additions to the game again.. e.g. Sorrow's Furnace, etc..

Forever is a bad word to use, nothing lasts forever, especially F2P games such as Guild Wars, what's paying for them?.. Nothing..

Unhappy

Just the fact that everyone has supported it, and did pay 50 bucks for the game, + all of its expansions, and spent all their time, makes me wish that they would make sure they kept the servers up for those that want to play for a really long time. Or at least make it possible to keep the servers up giving them some kind of option such as even paying 5 dollars a month, or some way..

Sorry to say, but most people wouldn't pa $5 a month. That is one thing that helps Guild Wars be as sucessful as it is... it is free forever. You buy the game and you are good.

Most people would instantly quit and join some crappy Korean-Hack 'n Slash Grind Fest than pay for a game. It is sad how that works, but it is true...

There are actually A LOT of people (atleast, more than you would expect) that are staying behind even if GW2 is good or bad. No matter what, they feel they have lots to do and accomplish before the next big transition, so they will stay back.

ANet said as long as people want to play Guild Wars, as it is, past the release of GW2, they will allow it.

I think this a legit question. In some ways GW uses the ulimate in copy protection. Half Life 2 can't even be played in single player mode without a connection to the internet to register.

I love putting in some of my older Bioware games like Baldur's Gate 2 and Icewind Dale. However, games like Myth: The Fallen Lords is unplayable as a multiplayer game since Bungie no longer supports it through their servers. They did not offer peer to peer connection. NWN on the other hand allows folks to have their own servers and direct connections.

If ANET should cease operation, then GW will cease, too, unless someone in the community can come up with indie servers.

Don't worry Zacky, something else will come along that will catch your interest eventually.

I mean, if Anet shut down tomorrow, someone would be paying attention and design a game much like this one to cater to the fan base.

Eventually the fan base will shift and decrease though. That's just life. And business. But by then something else much cooler will be out.

So don't worry so much. You'll find a way to survive.

Ya, new stuff will come out i suppose, but i almost feel it is silly to waste the time playing and becoming good, then one day it ending.

That's all computer/video games though Zacky. Eventually they all die out. I used to be killer at the Tony Hawk games, and while they haven't died out completely, I lost interest. I don't feel bad for playing 4 or 5 of those games, since it was fun at the time.

It isn't necessarliy a waste of time for you to play one game a lot. If you just do it for relaxation and fun, then it isn't a waste of time at all. If you neglect other, more important things to do something that really isn't anything, like a video game, then we have problems.

I just don't enjoy worrying about it lol. I have actually stopped playing MMORPG's for this fact, Untill something or some game can change my mind, or prove it will always be playable lol. =(

Well you'll still have at least two years of valuable game play left. Wait till then to start worrying. I feel your pain though, I love this game so much that I'd hate for the original to come to an end.

I firmly believe it won't though.

I'm searching for the chat log/post that states, from an Anet employee, that the servers will remain open as long as people play, that should put your mind at rest, I'll edit when I find it.
