I'm new but for a Warrior - you could have certain sets for diff ooponents.
IE : Set 1 general melee, Set 2 "causes + 15 & damage agaonst undead" etc For Rangers different types of Bows with different effects. As an ele I have a "Fire Set" then a Green set with health & energy I'll switch to when i'm in trouble. |

weapon swapping is more for pvp players who do not always know the type of enemy they will be facing. For example, I use an IDS but that would not be the best weapon to use if I had to put pressure on a ranger, due to his increased armor against elemental damage.
Then there is also the obvious answer relating to inscriptions... 'now im in a stance, use the flamberge' 'now im hexed, use the butterfly sword' 'now im below 50% hp, use the gladius' etc... |

yes changing weapons can be used while in the battle field
for example the new W/Me smite run you need to use a zealous sword/axe for the killing but that isn't really a help while running to them so you change to a sword and shield that support stances (like +50hp, maybe a bit more of energy) and when you're at the smites you change to your right equip to kill them |

I'll only have different weapon sets i switch from if i'm doing serious PvP, like ranked HA or GvG, and only at the convenience of a PvP character. In PvE i'll mainly have 2 practical weapon sets with entirely different mods. I think people who are switching weapons every time they get hexed or enter a stance are beyond ridiculous.
Some casters have high energy and 40/40 sets, shield with +10 vs. different armor mods, etc. As a warrior i'd have vampiric if you're going to be attacking for awhile, elemental mod for wars or other things with armor vs. physical, furious/sundering for general crap. This is for PvP only of course. |

On my pvp warrior I have the following sets:
15^50 Vamp, 15^50 Zealous, 15^50 Element, and a 15^50 wand/bow/ranged weapon. For my shield in pvp I almost always have it as +30 hp 20% reduce blind. |

Weapon Swapping realistically is about getting the most damage out of your weapons. EG Vampiric is only going to make you lose HP when you're blinded, Zealous will cost you energy, and when your at max energy, it doesnt have a point. Furious is useful when blinded because it means, you'll possibly have slightly more adrenaline once your not blinded. Elemental allows you to hit warriors with a base 80 AL rather then the 100 base AL they have against physical.
With all my weapons i run a: Vampiric for general attacking Furious for when blinded Zealous for when low on energy Icy for vsing Warriors All are 15>50 & +30 as well Shield is +30/-20% Blind. Works well, especially since i toss in a - 20% blind rune on my armor, so i get -40% blind, which really annoys anything trying to blind me |

as a warrior in PvE I use weapon swapping for energy management.
my warrior normally has a base of 25energy weapon slot 1: a flatbow with -5e. gives me 20 energy, 2 energy regen. I use this for pulling mobs and regening energy when not in battle. weapon slot 2: my weapon of choice is a zealous legendary blade with +5e, this gives me 30e and faster energy regen while in battle. If I need to use another weapon I switch it through my inventory. weapon slot 3 an insightful staff with +15e/-1 mod, gives me +30e, total of 55 energy on my warrior. Useful for when I'm out of energy and need to use a skill. I can switch to the staff, cast, then switch back to the sword to carry on fighting. |

Weapon swapping helps you do bigger damage as a warrior. When you hit other warriors, they have +physical armor, so you want an elemental weapon. When you hit rangers, you switch to a vampiric weapon. When you need more energy to power your energy attack skills, switch to zealous. Different shield swaps also prevent damage. I carry a furious spear in my defense set if I run enraging charge hammer, so that I have a chance to get superadren!

I swap on my non-melee characters....they might start out with a bow for pulling then move to a staff or wand for more close up work.....
My ranger also likes to change from a long bow to a short bow for the slightly faster recharge times when the mobs are much closer....she also has a bow that lengthens poison for those foes that can be poisoned---and one for those that cant (no need to waste that string on something that isnt useful). |

So say I'm a warrior and I have a hammer. So generally...
When I'm knockdown damaging, use sunder? When I'm against a warrior, use elemental mods? When I'm using energy or need to regain energy, use a zealous set? |

Basically, it's a bad idea to keep a vampiric weapon equipped when not in combat. If there are decent expanses between mobs, then switch off the vampiric weapon for another. Similarly, and especially for a warrior, a zealous weapon can provide tons of energy in combat, but otherwise you'll want the energy to regen as fast as possible. Lastly, if you're traveling in an area where some enemies are weak to a certain element, you may want such a weapon on hand. |

Now I've taken care of 3 slots, should the 4th one be Vampiric? Or a bow? Or furious for blindness?
