1) You will at some point in your GW career want to go title hunting. Leg Defender of Ascalon/Leg Survivor are not things you can pick up just any time!
2) There IS such a thing as the perfect salvage kit (0% chance of losing the item, anyone can use) even if you don't have the faction in GWEN! 3) Do the storyline, THEN go exploring. My wife all but lost interest (and she's a gamer chick) in GW after we got to Amnoon, because we spent so much time running around and looking at stuff and doing all the quests we could find that we half forgot why we were actually there. If you go straight through with just missions and major storyline quests, then come back and hit up the "My grandmother broke her leg, will you bring her these rare flowers?" quests, the storyline is much more engrossing. 4) It's been said a couple times already, but always identify EVERY item before selling to the merch. Higher level areas it's not unheard of at all to have an item showing worth 47 in the sell window, then ID it and it goes over 100. I've met 2 year veterans who didn't know this one, so it bears repeating! 5) Save. The. Cape. |

Don't always listen to people, when it comes to builds and what not. There are tons apoud tons of ways to go about something.
You should find your own way frist so you better understand why people do the things they do, and try to not use the many cookie cutter builds out there. And no matter what people tell you, if your playing the game the way you want to play it, your playing it right, there is no wrong way *that goes for all games:P* ok well 3 pieces. When you ID things check the runes value at rune sellers. Sometimes its wroth it to pull that one rune out even if it breaks the rest. |

Find a good guild that fits your playstyle and interests. The game is a lot more fun when you can team up with friends for the missions and elite areas. I enjoy pugging with random people, but most folks don't. You'll find about 10,000 guilds recruiting in the major towns and about 9,990 of them are crappy little kiddie guilds that just want recruits.
Determine what you want from a guild and post a message in guru's find a guild forum. Do you want a small friendly guild containing just a few close friends or a huge mega guild? PvE oriented? PvP guild? Farming guild? AB Kurzick Faction Farmers? Or perhaps one that is related to your real-life interests. Christian guild? Gay/Lesbian guild? UCLA College students? Kitty Kat Quilters? HackersRUs? Girl Gamers? Yankee Fans? Or if you have good leadership skills and a committment to the game, start your own guild and build it up to suit your style. Once you join a guild you can learn a lot about the game from your guildmates. Most folks will help out a newbie guildie with free weapons/runs/advice, but just don't make a pest of yourself. If you are constantly asking newbie questions then your guildmates won't want you around. (But judging from most of your forum posts you appear to be a mature and capable gamer, unlike most of the gimme gimme gimme kids) Don't attempt trading with others until you read thru the common scams page on wiki and never buy or sell an item unless you're sure of the value of the item. There is a man in our guild who's teenage daughter was recently lucky enough to win a rare minipet in the mini mania contest. She hadn't checked her e-mail and didn't even realize she had won, however when she logged into the game she was immediately besieged with hundreds of PMs from folks offering to buy her pet. She was offered prices from 20k to 200k for the pet (which is worth much much much more) and she sold it for about 200k immediately. Unfortunately she wasn't much of a minipet collector and didn't know the true market value on them. |
