Rurik's Flaming sword is a Dragon Sword and cost alot of gold since nearly everyone wants one.
As for other swords, there are Butterfly Sword, Falchion, Long Sword, Brute Sword, and Galdius. I'm pretty sure they're are more, I just can't think of them right now. You can upgrade both Pommel and Hilt of a sword. Off the top of my head the types of hilts I remember are Furious(bonus to Adrenaline), Zealous (energy on hit), Firy (fire damage), Icy (Cold Damage), Ebon (Earth Damage), Shocking (Lightning Damage). Pommels (again off the top of my head) are Enchanting (lengthens enchantments), one that lengthens Deep Wound, one that lengthens Bleeding, and one that increases attack speed. Some of the above could be in the other catagory (hilt or pommel), I'm not sure if I got them right in that way. |

I thought it was one of those. Well, I wonder how much one will cost, and then to get a fire damage hilt and some good pommel.

There are also sword upgrades (I can't recall if pommels or hilts) that increase your max life and armor. And +% dmg ones can be factored by life over 50%, life under 50%, if you are enchanted or if the opponent is hexed I believe, and probably other factors too.
There are also Forked Swords, Flamberges, and Spathas. I can't recall everything off the top of my head. There's just so much cool loot to keep and eye out for

I'll take a tricked out butterfly sword over a dragon sword any day.

How hard are dragon swords to find. Are they really rare?

Which is precisely why I lauded the dragon sword as my choice one.
Affords you, in effect, three mods on the weapon rather than two. -- Scaper-X |

True the Dragon gives you an extra upgrade and allows one conjure to be used without upgrading the sword, but what if you wanted to use Conjure Lightning or Conjure Frost? Are they planning on making Ice Swords and Energy Blades?
As much as I like that the Dragon Sword gives you an extra mod on it, I'd rather stick with a normal sword with other mods, or mods that I can use. (W/E with Water Magic). At least this way I can afford to buy the sword I want. |

15-22 Sword with intrinsic +15% conditional damage modifier, zealous (+1/-1) hilt, swiftness (+10% speed) pommel.
Pick your favorite model, it doesn't matter in the slightest. Peace, -CxE

mickyo, thank you for digging up a thread that is like a year old...
There is no upgrade like: Dmg in stance, that has to come with the sword itself There are upgrades for bleeding, it's called Barbed... too bad you cannot put it on a FDS, because the fiery upgrade won't come off |

Honestly I don't know if there is a true "best". There could be a "best" suited for a situation or play style. I see the dragon sword mentioned. While that sword would be great against a warrior, since it will negate his physical damage bonus. It will be less effective against a Ranger due to their elemental bonus kicking in. Some people like vamp mods others like furious or zealous.
+30 health or +5 armor. It really is dependant on your play style and situation you're in. I find it's always a good idea to have another weapon set to switch too. Because of that I find there really isn't a "best". |
