Well, there should be a boat on the world map of Nightfall, if he clicks that, and selects "Lions Arch" as his destination, he should be where he wants to go.

Did your son ADD the nightfall key to his existing account? If he made a new account with only Nightfall then he cannot get from one game to the other. If this is what you have done the only thing i can suggest is contact their support system and ask if the keys can be put onto the same account. If it's just that he needs to complete the quest to travel to the other continent, I would suggest looking here to find out where they are and how to get them.

Nothing more to add from what celestial has told you. Follow those instructions (relating to the missions required) and you cant really go wrong. If its a case of the nightfall key has not been added to the existing account, the only option is to contact support and ask them to link the keys

To go to Tyria, he has to do the quest 'The Time is Nigh'. After completing it, go to Kamadan, Jewel of Istan and take the quest 'Terror in Tyria' from the NPC Deras Tenderlin. After accepting the quest go talk to Mhenlo who's in Consulate Docks and tell him that you want to travel to Lion's Arch.

The Problem Could be that he created another account instead of merging the key with the account he already activated. Then indeed he can't go back ...
But since you say "he can't go back" i assume he is on an old character in the new campaign ... in that case follow the above examples. Have fun, Timebandit |

To recap the possibilities:
First, with the Nightfall access key, one can either add the access key to an existing account, merging both accounts (one set of characters, can play in both areas), OR one can create a separate account which will allow only access to Nightfall (nightfall areas only and separate nightfall characters). If you need to log in with a different login name/password, the second may have happened. If so, contact the official support if they can fix the error. Second: travel between campaigns is not available to freshly made characters. The character must first do a certain quest that will unlock the travel option. Perhaps your son has created a new character in Nightfall which has to yet reach the point where he is able to? Third: for characters that can travel between campaigns, map travel between the campaigns is accomplished by using the map, clicking on the boat icon, and then selecting the capital of the area you wish to travel to. |

When you say "old world" do you mean the autumn landscape of Ascalon, versus the wasteland of Old Ascalon?
The idealic tutorial region is called "pre-searing" or commonly refered to as "pre" and the main story region is called "post searing" of just "post". The story of Guild Wars:Propcies is that we are at war with a race of Beasts know as Charr. The game starts out in the morning of a new charr offensive. The King ask his town crier to send out word that the land needs new heros to push back the Charr, hence you starting up. By the end of that day, you've developed onto the type of hero the king wants and you join the newly created Vanguard army. What you don't know, untill it is to late, is that the Charr were given assitance in developing a new super weapon. This weapon fires lightning crystals, causing a cataclysm know as "The Searing". Accepting the primary quest from Sir Tydus, the player is taken to a 4 man skirmish (which may be skipped if another palyer does not enter at the same time), then a fight with primate race called Grawl and a Charr "boss" highlighted with a green glow named Vatlaaw Doomtooth. This action progresses the story and triggers the searing event cinematic of the city being bombed by crystals. This also removes the possibilty of going back to the tutorial region. Adding a Nightfall account has nothing to do with his not going back to the tutorial region, (which is why many of us have a character dedicated to staying in that region) it is simply the natural progression of the story. Without any additional information I suspect that this is what happened. Your son got his secondary profession reward from Armin Saberlin and was told to talk to Sir Tydus standing next to him. That created the irreversable story progression. For further research you may wish to read: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Main_Page Last edited by Markaedw; Mar 18, 2008 at 11:33 AM // 11:33.. |

if he makes a char in Proph and later one in NF he can't switch yet
but if he unlocks the other continents with his chars then he can go from one campaign to another with his chars it's really easy tho |

If you could answer these questions, it would help out a lot:
1) Can your son name some towns and outposts he has reached in both Prophecies (GW1) and Nightfall? 2) Did he definitely add the Nightfall key to his existing account instead of creating a new account with a new E-mail and password? 3) Which profession(s) does he use, and where are they situated right now? As others have said, he might be missing the boat on the world map (press M). He can click on this to travel in between continents and it will take him to Lion's Arch or Kamadan Jewel of Istan. These are the two 'main' towns of Prophecies and Nightfall. |

If he instead created a new account, then he has 2 accounts and each only has access to 1 continent. To determine whether he added the key to his original account or created a new one, check to see if any of his original characters are now in Elona. If so, then he must have added the key, since otherwise they couldn't have changed continents. Quote:

To get a character to go to a different "game", it must complete a quest to "unlock" travel there on that character. Your son, if he has a Nightfall character, it will not be able to go to the other Guild Wars games until a certain quest is beaten. Quote:

hi and thanks
just tugged him in so i can only give this info he added the key to his existing account I think he has 4 players - all different My suspicion about missing quests is somehow confirmed - so I will try push him that way with some of the ideas you have given me Thanks If he (and I ) get stuck i will get back here - this forum is full of helpfull people.... :-) and I must say I trust him - a lot for the sexual part it's easier that he's not yet to familar with english so he asks for adult help (me and mum) to translate certain parts. so we are a part of it. The violence is not that bad - when you hold it against other games - like Counter strike which i play together with him on public servers. He is a tough one.. in a good way |

One thing, how many character slots (both empty and full) does he have. You say he has 4 players, does he have 2 empty slots where he could make 2 more characters? If not, then he didn't add the key to his existing account correctly.

My 10 year old daughter also plays this game. Maybe some parents just need to lighten up a bit about "protecting" their kids from society. Id MUCH rather have all the questions asked now then after its too late cause she was never exposed to anything.
And I agree, the violence is nothing compared to most console games that people let their kids play. Not any blood, missing body parts, etc. Yeah just my two cents Glad to know I am not the only parent that plays games online with my kid! |

he has 6 slots now.... so i'm sure it was added... I so very much agree with u Hammer... Both my kids have their own computers and then we have a common one in our livingroom which is the preferred on for both my kids. Playing here automaticly generates severel quistions so we can give them the answers when the problem occur.. And it works great ! And i finf it amuzing to play with them as well it's a win-win ! |

So glad to see parents who participate and monitor their children's play time.
It is surely a win-win. |
