Yeah KyaFeathrbow. Items are not customized to the name, but to a unique "invisible" pin code that every character has.
Thus, if you buy max armor, put it in storage, delete your character, and make a new character with the same name, you will not be able to use that armor. Name changes are the same way (well actually its the exact counterexample). The name changes, but the pin stays the same. |

Just happened to me also..
My reply is as follows.. Hello, my account has got a temporary ban on it due to one of my characters having an unacceptable name.. This would of happened around X hours and XX minutes ago, I am guessing from Alliance Battles but this has nothing to do with my appeal. My appeal is straight forward and to the point, the character in question is called "I Got A Great Arse" (which I do by the way ). Why a temporary ban now after nearly two years of having this character? Why now after people have told me they reported the name like over a year ago and why now has ANET suddenly changed their stance on this name? Those are the only questions I got about it, I could say that maybe the person who did report me wasn't offended by the name but by the fact they had a hard time in Alliance Battles against me so this is their vengeance in which case good on your for encouraging young people to cry wolf when they are upset because they came across a better player. I could but I wont.. Just answers to the above questions would suffice thank you, and have a nice day. Now I've actually had quite a few people IG say to me, "hey nice name" or "do you?" and all I say is "It's a matter of opinion" I received a typical blowoff by anet in regards to this by basically saying "The support team have better things to do than entertain appeals" and neither of my questions were answered. Thank you anet for the great customer support. :P |

Funny that I just happened to see someone with nucking futs in their name and I doubt they'll be suspended for it. Then again nothing surprises me after someone PMed me and told me my name(Musei Karasu) was offensive(japanese for Silent Raven in case you're curious) and he apparently reported me, no ban or anything, but it proves my point. After that, I have no question how stupid some people can be.

I'm sorry, but I fail to see what's so offensive about "Britches and Hoses". How the hell are three words that are in no way offensive somehow deemed bad enough to earn a ban?
Did someone repeatedly drop the ANet team member who sanctioned this on their head as a baby? |

Britches and Hoses. Directly translated to Bitches and Hoes. Not hard to see. The Anet employee that forced the ban/namechange doesn't have to speak English to know what it was implying.
Was it offensive? Not to me personally, though I do think it's immature and stupid. However, If Don Imus can get fired for saying "Nappy headed Hoes" then your name probably is offensive to at least one basketball team. Try making a name that is not offensive. "Clever" people really aren't... |

I'd like to see all those 'female' elementalists with names like 'ZOMG I'MHAWT' banned too. |

i found it quite amusing that during the halloween event, MKT referred to my character by her old name "casting couch teens" which i was told i couldnt have anymore because it promoted that website, because the game itself was then advertising for said website.

Tbh I think we should all report the Attribute line of Domination magic for being offensive and causing too many people to give their female mesmers dodgy names.
Oh, while we're at it...that Sticky Operation quest is in really bad taste. I for one am offended. It should be removed from the game and ANet banned for 72 hours... I mean...the whole fact that a female Ele can strip down to her underwear and do that provocative dance is more "offensive" than some of the names they seem to ban. It's a sad world sometimes.

In my opinion the use of a non-RP name like, say (and this is made up, apologies if there's an actual character like this) "Zomg I Pwn" or "John Goes Pve" should result in an instant and permanent ban, except in PvP. That or we should get RP districts.

It's been interesting to see the response from people who think that RP names are the only way to go. I don't have a problem with non-RP character names myself, but I do have a problem with a lot of the names that get around the censors, only barely. I don't know how I feel exactly about TC's name, but if someone was offended by it then who am I to tell them they're wrong?

@Zahr: I've elected to see the "non-rp" names as basically indian names. Instead of Sitting Bull or Crazy Horse we've got Zomg I Pwn and I Got A Great Arse.
I much prefer that type of name to names lifted from animu or, god forbid!, Tolkien. As for rp districts... In the early days of GW there were considerable demand for rp districts, but in the end it sortof turned out that the international district was the rp district. I don't know if the rp'ers still mainly gather there, though. |

I find "Damned Clerics" offensive, if I'm not allowed to use the word "damn" in any of my names ("damn" is censored for some asinine reason) why are they allowed to? I demand there name to be changed to "Fuzzy Wuzzy Clerics" although the word "Clerics" kinda sounds too much like a word for the male reproductive organ so they should probably change that too. When it comes to naming and censorship the game becomes really childish.
