E-Z Questions! :)
I am new to GW which you will probably be able to tell by the questions I am about to ask. First let me give you a little background, me and my friend have decided to play through the entire story of guildwars. Right now we are up to mission 13 in prophecies. Things are beginning to get a little tough for us. So I was wondering if I were to go to factions and get a few new skills there if it would affect our gameplay in prophecies. I.e. would I still be able to go through the missions with him? Or would I be stuck in factions? I am lv18 and I am an Elementalist / Mesmer who currently spams flare, fireball, firestorm for AOE, and of course epidemic for when my friend uses disease or enfeeble. My friend plays a Necromancer / Monk, specializing in making minions to do his bidding. If you need more information I'll be happy to post. But all in all I am asking if there is a place where i can accumulate some more powerful skills without getting ahead of where we are in prophecies (Keep in mind this char will not be doing the storyline in factions or Nightfall, if he gets ahead in that respect, that is fine).
For those who hate to read long paragraphs, the short version: What skills do you recommend I use for an E/Me who has at the moment only prophecy skills available up to mission 13 (level 18). I Play with a N/Mo, so any skills that work well with that class would benefit me as well. And will going to Nightfall or Factions screw up our storyline in prophecies? You can go back and forth and not screw up the storyline in prophecies as long as you don't skip towns.

You could get Meteor Shower from Captain Greywind if you haven't gotten yet. It's a powerful spell like meteor, but it hits 3 times in a 9 second span. Not sure what else you could get, I never specialized in skill trainers in prophecies. Quote:

In addition to meteor shower suggested above, pick up Fire Attunement in Fisherman's Haven, once you get to Sanctum Cay (that's mission 14). Head north from Sanctum Cay to get there.
Also, pick up Arcane Echo in either Beetletun or Henge of Denravi. With meteor shower and arcane echo, you can cast two showers in a row and are the the classic "echo nuker". After Sanctum Cay, and you get to Amnoon Oasis, pick up meteor. So for your build use arcane echo, meteor shower, flare, fire ball, fire attunement, epidemic, a rez, and add meteor once you hit Amnoon. |

Since you are not yet at max lvl 20, so you dont have the maximum number of attribute points to spend, the exhaustion from 2x meteor shower and meteor may be a bit tough. Have you done all the skill giving side quests? Id recommend doing all of those quests as it will save you a lot of money in purchasing skills. Also have you considered a water slow hex build? If you friend has minions the slow hexes can keep the fight way ahead of you and let the minions pound on them. I forget how good earth spells are with prophecies only skills. Experiment around with the other attribute lines, you may like them. But definitely try to complete the skill giving quests if you havnt already.

Also, if you haven't already done so, check out the skill listing on the Guildwiki site:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Index_of_skill_lists As it give which skills are available from what chapter, you can maybe use that to help decide if its worth making the trip to NF or Cantha (quests for which are available in LA). It's handy to refer to the list before buying a skill - no point spending valuable gp if you can obtain the skill through a quest Cheers. |

Something that was not mentioned above is that if you take your characters to nightfall from lion's arch you will unlock some heroes. The heroes will start out at level 15 I believe and may help you round out your party better than if you were using henchmen.
Your heroes can only use basic skills and any skills you have unlocked on your account that fit their primary or secondary class. You provide their weapon and armor upgrades, set their secondary profession (can be changed anytime) and set what skills you wish them to use. They will level up with you as you play through the game. You can unlock them and then go back to your missions in Prophecies with them. Hope this helps! |

Travelling to other campaigns will also allow you the possibility of aquiring elite skills earlier on than you would normally. But yes, learning general skills from the other campaigns can be of good help. There are some core skills that aren't available until late in Prophecies that you can get fairly early on in the other campaigns.

Check out the different sections in this forum...there is usually one that is dedicated to what you are looking for. For example, for PvE builds and discussion go here http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/f...splay.php?f=17.
