That's probably because they tried doing so early on in the game (pre-Northern Shiverpeaks, for example) and found that they weren't getting anywhere near enough extra value per ID or inventory space to make it worth it, so they stopped.

Vanquish. Started a guild with some friends and we didn't have enough money to stock the guild hall. We vanquished and just merched everything and had all the gold needed for the hall in a week and a half. Elite tome drops helped a lot.

heres something cool, you know the free chests in elona?
treasure chest, burried treasure, do not touch etc...
I decided the other day to get all of them on my war. (locations on wiki)
Along with all the golds i got from each one (mostly useless)
I got >21k from them. some of them drop 2.3k or something.

helps if youve finished nightfall so you can get the the area quick, i just made a mass running team with my heroes, lots of "charge"

To answer a few ?'s..
-i have all 4 Campains and HM in EotN only
-my sin is right after the borius seabord(sp?) in factions, and my derv is doing Horde of darkness in NF but he has completed EotN.
A few of my ?
-could sum1 describe the Elona chest running thing more? it sounds good but i don't rly get it.
-i ran a little sanctum cay on my derv. didn't have any problems but finding ppl was a little slow.

make an ele. play it through any of the campaigns...
get him/her to have all the skills from the E/Me Raptor Farm - No Elite Required build and bring them to EotN.
Then just start off by talking to Vekk and helping the asuran first. Get to Rata Sum and just follow the guide from there.

Besides, this weekend is Sweet Treat Weekend - even MORE things to get out of it.

My guildy got 3 black dyes from farming the raptor cave in 1 day. (make sure you are on Normal Mode)

There are chests scattered around nightfall that you don't need a key to open, and they drop money as well as an item. Its always gold iirc. They can only be opened 1 time every ~30 days.

ya heres a good way go to the town just before Bone palace in nightfall and join a 5 man HM ss/lb farm(hard mode sunspear/lightbringer) farm your points and collect all your drops 3k a run and at least 1 gold drop,best drop ive ever had out of there was a super vigor rune & a dead sword
