FoW end chest wiki accuracy - Guild Wars Forums

I'm just wondering if this is accurate:

This statement is with regards to the end chest in FoW, I'm particularly questioning the bit regarding HM at the end. If I'm interpreting it correctly, is it saying that including onyx gemstone, obsidian shard and obsidian key, 8 items will drop in total for each player? This seems like way too much, even for HM.

I haven't ever completed FoW in HM so I have no idea what the drops are like from the end chest, however I have completed it a couple of times in NM and I don't really recall an Onyx gemstone, obsidian shard and obsidian key dropping for each player as well as one random item. I could be wrong about this tho as its been a while since I cleared NM FoW.

So basically am I interpreting whats said there about the 8 drops in HM incorrectly, or is this a mistake?

Well you get 4 items from it in NM.

All end chest rewards are doubled for Elite Areas in HM.

4+4 = 8

Ummm....I have to disagree with you all. I've been doing hard mode fow runs for the past couple of weeks as my main activity in gw, and I can tell you that it drops seven items, not eight or four. Those items are:
1 Obsidian Key
1 Lockpick
1 Passage Scroll to the Fissure of Woe
1 Onyx Gemstone
1 Obsidian Shard
And 2 variable spots, which can be gold items, gemstones, obsidian shards, or passage scrolls to the fissure of woe. In the future, to those who posted the "of course its double in hm" comments, I'd actually go there and see what drops myself instead of pulling out of nowhere that just because it's hard mode and dungeons drop exactly double in hm, so does the fow.

it is 8 drops, i was arguing with someone as we were running to the chest. except he said it was only 6. sure enough, everyone got 8 drops.

Would you mind telling exactly what your eight drops were then? I can tell you the seven I got from my run earlier this evening:
1 q11 Talon Daggers
2 Passage Scrolls to the Fissure of Woe
1 Obsidian Shard
1 Lockpick
1 Onyx Gemstone
1 Obsidian Key

My guess is that your mind just likes nice, even numbers, and if you actually count your items up, you'll find that you actually had seven drops, not eight.

hmm - having run the experiment 10 times now, (i know, not a representative sample) i'd say it's always 8. i'm curious if maybe you're overlooking some complete crap or some stacking materials in your inv??

or, possibly, it's both 7 and 8, which is an odd inconsitency, all things considered....

It said 8 when the OP first posted. Check the edit history.

First time I checked it was about 2 weeks ago. It said 7 then. The reason I checked it, was because I had done NM first, and received 4. When I did HM, I only got 7. I thought that was wrong, as most chests double the reward for HM. I thought about posting a BUG topic in the Bugs Forum, but wiki told me 7 was what you get.

I don't edit wiki, and I don't know how. I don't pay attention to edit histories, or even know how to check them. I do know it said 7 items about 2 weeks ago.

Well, not really. It takes a decent while, and those drops are quire low in value. In most cases, unless you get a decent end-chest item, FoW end-chest isn't worth it money-wise.

So maybe there is a bug with it. Each person should be given the same reward. Although some items have a random drop rate (gold item or gem), everyone should get the same number of items. If people really are getting 8, and others only 7, this is a bug to me. I never paid attention to what the other people in my groups got, but I have always gotten 7 items.
