What Is The Best Bow For An Interruption Ranger?
I'm making a pure intterupt ranger hero & was wondering what type of bow would be the best to use for this. I was thinking I'll need something fast so that it can intterupt quick but what do you guys think?
Thanks. |

longbow/hornbow or recurve bow, u don't really need to worry about shot time, because dshot and sshot both have "casting" times. if you use read the wind, u don't really need to worry much about trajectory, in which case longbow or hornbow is the best choice because of the massive range.

Well the thing is, I already have a perfect longbow which I can give to my hero but was wondering whether or not it'd be worth it to go out & buy a recurve bow so that it can interrupt quicker

Recurve bows have the shortest flight time, thus being better for interupting

Is the arrow flight time difference significant under read the wind or fw?

Korgs Recurve Bow works well with BHA. In general Recurve is best. Shortbow means you have to get a little to close to your target, and Long/Horn/Flat has to long a flight time to be really useful for interrupts.

I'll go against the grain here and say shortbow.
Arrow is fast, firing rate is highest. That the range is short doesn't matter, as if you're going to interrupt you'd better be standing close to the target anyway. |

For a comparison of different bows:
Type: Refire Rate, Range, Flight Time, Arc Size, Special Features (in order) ------------------------------------------------------ Longbow: 2.4 seconds, 1.6, 0.59 seconds, Medium, None Flatbow: 2.0 seconds, 1.6, 0.88 seconds, Large, None Hornbow: 2.7 seconds, 1.4, 0.59 seconds, Medium, 10% Armor penetration Recurve Bow: 2.4 seconds, 1.4 0.40 seconds, Small, None Shortbow: 2.0 seconds, 1.05, 0.59 seconds, Medium, None http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Bows#Bow_Classes The quick flight time and small arc of the Recurve makes it an excellent choice for interupts. |

Depends on the skills you use.
For [skill]Distracting Shot[/skill] or [skill]Savage Shot[/skill], a recurve bow is the best choice. For [skill]Broad head Arrow[/skill], a short bow is the better choice as it shortens the flight arc caused by the skill. |

The short bow shortens the flight time by simply forcing you to be closer to your target. You could get an even better result by simply using a recurve bow and standing in short bow range. |

bha...u want to use a recurve bow in close range dun be lazy and use a short bow to c+space from a mile away and let gw autopilot teh range for u -__-' but after bha hits...switch to shortbow for faster ias generally u want to always use recurve but use short bow under 2 conditions: 1) a dazed target (not to be confused wit tryint to bha a target..but one that is already dazed) 2) when using incendiary arrows i.e...teh interrupts that rely on ias and not quick timing/reflexes edit: and 3) spinal shivers sorta....technically it counts, but generally that skill wouldnt be used lol Last edited by snaek; Mar 22, 2008 at 01:38 PM // 13:38.. |

The flight time isn't as important as the refire rate. As the shortbow is much faster-firing I'm more likely to be able to fire the bow when I need to, whereas even with an IAS you're going to miss some interrupts if you're using a slow-firing bow. And, like I said, if you're interrupting you better be close to the target anyway, so the range isn't much of a factor. To me the shortbow is simply the best bow for interrupting. |

id go with a recurve. as an interrupter, you need to focus more on hitting when you need to than hitting alot. of course this depends on your reaction time. then again, if you have a slow reaction time anyway you shouldnt really be playing an interrupter.
