Obsidian Shards - Guild Wars Forums

Okay, we all know that Shards drop in FoW from Shadow (Profession) and I just noticed that the same creatures are in the Domain of Secrets. I looked it up on Wiki to see if they too dropped Shards, it doesn't say they don't, but it also doesn't say that they do, so my question is do the Shadow (Profession) drop Obsidian Shards in other places than FoW (Ex; Domain of Secrets).

shards only drop in the fow. Ectos can drop in fow as well as uw, from the banshees during the wailing lord. Also from a few other creatures outside of these areas, such as the ravangers during bloodstone fen.

I've often wondered why they do not drop on the DoA as well, after all, the Shadow characters are supposed to be the same, correct?

They are different... the necros (beasts) use depravity, which is a NF skill so they are different atleast.

The Shadow Army in the Realm of Torment are different than the Shadow Army in the Fissure of Woe; they use different skills and their drops are different.
