Anthem Of Flame Question
[skill]anthem of flame[/skill]
It says the next "attack" skill. Does this mean any skill on the bar that is an attack, including elemental attacks such as fireball etc or by "attack" skill does it just mean and melee/physical damage skill such as eviscerate, barrage, hundred blades etc? Thanks. |

Fireball is not an [wiki]attack[/wiki] in the skill sense. If the skill is not explicitly an attack skill, it doesn't qualify.

OK thanks a lot guys.
What about [skill]burning refrain[/skill] though? It says next time target ally "hits" a foe. What does this mean? Is this the same as AOF, where it only counts for non casters? Last edited by whufc89; Mar 25, 2008 at 03:39 AM // 03:39.. |

Anthem of Flame only triggers on attack skills, not just attacks. So, regular wanding won't work. Like masta yoda said, weapon-based attack skills. You might be able to trigger it with Deft Strike with your wand. But Deft Strike will still continue to suck.

Doesn't say anything about attack skill....so any attack whether it's from a wand, staff, spear, sword etc. should trigger it. Although why you'd want to attack with a staff or wand is beyond me |

Also, [skill]defensive anthem[/skill] says "This Chant ends if that party member hits with an attack Skill". Does this mean it ends for ALL party members or just for the ally who used an attack skill? I'm thinking of using this, as most of my team consists of casters. @whufc89
the chant goes on every party member in earshot, and it will end separately |

Effects that end when an attack skill is used will only end when the person affected uses an actual skill which has "attack" listed as party of its type. This includes Axe Attacks, Sword Attacks, Hammer Attacks, Melee Attacks, Bow Attacks, Scythe Attacks, Dagger Attacks, Spear Attacks, or any skill which has "Attack Skill" listed as its skill type.
Things which aren't attacks are Enchantments, Spells, Enchantment Spells, Nature Rituals, Binding Rituals, Skills (non-attack), Hexes, Stances, Shouts, Weapon Spells, or any other skills not directly related to using equipped weapons to hinder your foes. There is a good chance that necros, elementalists, monks, mesmers, ritualists, and most general caster setups will never be using attack skills. Occasionally you'll see it happen, like a Spirit's Strength ritualist, but it isn't very common. Have everyone ping their builds to make sure they aren't running melee casters, Barrage rits, or Ursanway. Although even then, I'm not entirely certain Ursan is even considered an attack skill, I've never tested them for it. According to the wiki, Ursan counts as neither an attack nor an attack skill, meaning that it will not trigger Defensive Anthem or Anthem of Flame at all. And yes, Defensive Anthem is good for a team of casters. Last edited by Draginvry; Mar 25, 2008 at 05:35 AM // 05:35.. |

One last question though. Let's say I have just ONE melee in my team & the paragon casts DA on that melee, if that melee was to use an attack skill, would DA end for the WHOLE team or just that melee character? |

Defensive Anthem targets your whole party, but ends when its duration expires or its end condition is met. So in your scenario, DA would end for the melee ally when that ally uses an attack skill, but would remain on the rest of the party until the end condition is fulfilled for each individual.

Nice one, thanks
I thought it was like an enchantment, where it has to actually be cast on a particular ally. |

Attack Skills mean using a skill thats an attack (Martial Weapons & deft strike)
Attack/strike means via wanding/auto attacking basically Once skills are up they end seperately for each character, mainly for shouts because most other skills are seperately. This should answer all you're questions, and help you work out what the wording means usually. |
