Well farewell to warcrap... and hey there to GW
The title says it all really, but ive got a few questions.
Im proly going out to buy gw today, and I dont know much about it sooo: 1. Is the PvE on an epic scale? (Like WoW) 2. Is the PvP affected by gear earned in PvE?(Like WoW was pre-bc ) 3. What is the class that is needed most in PvE? 4. What is the class that is the best in PvP? Thanks for the help in advance everybody |

1: It's instanced, not world.
2:Yes if you take a PvE character in, no if you take a PvP char in. 3:Necro's or Monks. 4:There is no "best" class, it's all balanced. 5: Armor etc is customized, there is a max armor level which is easily buyable. Perfect weapons are not worth any more than each other, apart from the skin value. (Just to help your transition from WoW) |

1. No, everything is instanced.
2. No, everyone has the same gear. Or the same level of gear at least. 3. Questions like this usually start class wars. Play whatever class you like, that's the best advice I can give you. 4. See question #3. Best is a vague concept. Hope that helps some. And welcome, by the way. Oh and anything Berek says is wrong. Q&A sticky has a lot of good info. Also, don't listen to most people about classes.
It's all about preference. So what do you like? Berek is actually right about that. But it's kinda good that someone else posted first, since it makes me look not so lurky. But this post may counteract that...oh well. |

2. PvP is a separate entity from PvE in GW. Gear that you earn in PvE can be used in PvP, but it makes no functional difference. And there is no PvP during PvE as in WoW. 3. I know many people will give different answers to this, but IMHO, it doesn't matter what class you play in PvE. All of Normal Mode and most of Hard Mode can be done with just about any group, especially with the addition of Heroes. (With the possible exception of some Elite missions) So, play whatever class(es) floats your boat. I would have said Monk was the most needed class before Heroes, but now it really doesn't matter any more. 4. I'll let the PvP'ers have a go at this one. |

I would suggest starting out with a warrior or elementalist as your first character; both of these professions are relatively straightforward to pick up and are quite newb-friendly, and will help you learn the basics of game mechanics with fewer growing pains. Quote:
