Default I went to the Desert ...

I know, I Know ... on a horse with no name.

That aside, in making the trip from Amnoon Oasis to Augury Rock I came upon a platform surrounded by Transporter Switches. I couldn't get anything to happen so I just fought on. My question of course is ... Huh? What are they for and how/when do I use them.

I wiki'd it and found one reference which was just a mention as to thier existance. I used the search forum tool and founf three posts from 2006 that did not even contain the search term--one of them being an eBay page (What's up with that?)

So as usual the question fall to the bio-units of the forum and as always --thanks.

When you step on the transporter pad, turn around. (Just hit the x button.) There will be some lights that go off on the different switches. If you touch the switches in the same order the lights went off in, the transporter will work, moving you to the other side.

I think that one's on the wiki some where, but I can't remember where off the top of my head.

They actually teleport you to different areas of the explorable area.

Desert Runners use them to quickly get from one part of the explorable area to another. But if you are just playing through (which it sounds like you are) then I wouldn't worry about.

Seriously, about the switches - never saw any real point to them except maybe for runners. Once i opened all the outposts it was easiest just to map travel to the outpost nearest where I wanted to go and skip the transporters.

That is incorrect... sort of. To get to certain areas of the desert, you "have" to use the teleporters. They don't just exist for the runners (obviously), but for everybody.

Unless they added a path since the last time I was in the desert, you have to use a teleporter to get from Amnoon Oasis to Augury Rock.

Quikmonty, I think that's exactly what the OP's referring to.

OP: You have to go inside of it, then press the switches in the order that they light up in.
