Minimize Problem
Problem: Minimize-> restore -> game lags, game also appears to always be on low priority. This is not temporary lag, it keeps lagging until i restart the game.
I have seen quite a few posts with this problem with no solutions. Please post if have a solution and you know what you are talking about. I.e. Putting the game in windowed mode does not work and is not an acceptable solution. Also I have 2GB of Ram, that is not the problem either. thanks to anyone who can figure this out. |

This happens to me too, my fps drops to about 5 or 6, and can't be fixed until i restart it. I have no idea what causes it.

What are the video settings in the game set to? Maybe set them to a lower setting.
Also have you defragged the drive lately? |

Since you don't even bother to tell us what version of Windows you're running, the only answer I can give is "Don't minimize it."

I requested that Evul post this question for me so that I didn't have to register an account. Seems that I still ended up having to make one anyway, so here's the answer to the questions you have asked ( and a few more that I'm surprised you have yet to ask ):
- AMD Turion 64 x2 @ 2.2 GHz - Windows Vista Ultimate x64 (SP1) - GeForce Go 7600, since I can play at 30+ frames unless I accidentally minimize, I do not need a new graphics card - All drivers are up to date ( as of about two weeks ago ) - I do not have any viruses or spyware - I defrag my computer weekly - Doesn't matter how many times I re-install Guild Wars, it happens every time - Video settings are set to max, this is not the problem because I can play the game comfortably at 30+ frames as long as the game does not get minimized, and even if I set them lower, I still have the same problem - Guild Wars uses about 50% of the CPU when it is set to full screen - I do not like window mode because the window is too small unless it is full screen - If I make the window mode as big as the screen, the game still only gets five frames after I switch back to it from another application - This problem only happens with Guild Wars, I do not have problems with any other game Keep the questions coming ( or even a solution )! EDIT: I tried updating the video drivers to the ones posted in the link above ( since they were only four days old ), but the problem is not yet solved. By "Minimize" do you mean that you Alt + Tab? Perhaps you could try Alt + Enter, then minimizing like normal with the _ at the top right.
I saw the same thing when I just Alt Tabbed to minimize. When I returned, it was laggy, things were rubber banding all over... If that's what you are doing already then I dunno. |

You're on a laptop, could vista be telling the processor to go into reduced power mode when you minimize?

Try this, it fixed a problem I had a while back, same problem different game. What was happening was that when I minimized, windows went batshit insane with the cores and it all went pear shaped, this fixed it. |

I still can't figure out how to disable PowerMizer, but I messed with some of the settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel, still not fixed though. |
