A question about caster shields.
I've heard that casters can get +8 armor from carrying around a shield, is this with any req? Like, an r9 will offer the same +8 as an r11 will if nothing is put in tactics?
Thanks! |

My understanding is that with shields, if you do not meet the attribute requirement, you get half of the armor value of the shield. So a q8 +16 shield will give you +8. A q11 +16 will also give you +8. I believe that is correct.
Can someone else verify? |

Yes with a 16AL shield you'll get 8 armor when you do not meet the required attribute.

with any shield that doesn't meet the req you get half the armor.so an armor 16 shield will give you 8 armor with not reaching the req. it doesn't matter how much put in tact for example if you don't meet the req.so with a req9 shield with 8 tact you will still only get 8 armor and not 16. also for caster with the inscription shield u cant get an +10 vs x inscription (slashing, cold, fire etc) which in turn buff you up to 18 armor bonus without putting anything in tact (or comm w/e you choose). on the other hand you try to get a req8 inscription shield and put 8 in tact and enjoy 16 unconditional armor +10 vs x which buff you up to 26 armor bonus.

It's the same with a focus.
Let's say you're an ele wearing a max (+12e) soul reaping focus, you will only get +6 energy. |

It is also worth noting that Green items (and perhaps collector items) only give you 1/4 of their stated +e/ar when not meeting the requirement, as opposed to the usual 1/2.
I.e. a R9 Divine Favor "Byzzr's Benediction" will only give non-monks +3 energy. |
