Default Do these two cancel?

One part of my current build as a D/P is that when I am in the middle of a mob, i throw down Hear of Holy Flame for its AoE and holy buff (http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Heart_of_Holy_Flame) and then follow it up with Grenth's Fingers for another AoE hit and the cold buff (http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Grenth%27s_Fingers).

I then take off Grenth's for the cripple so i can keep mobs close. I take off HoHF after letting the holy buff be useful for a bit so i can get the burning going.

My question is: When stacking Grenth's on top of HoHF, am I doing cold dmg until I remove GF, at which point i begin doing holy? Or, am I doing both? Or do they just cancel out?

BTW, holy ignores armor, correct? Also, does cold have any special effects aswell?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

*EDIT* IDK how to add the tooltip links for skills, can some1 please explain that to me?

[skill]Heart of Holy Flame[/skill] [skill]Grenth's Fingers[/skill]

I think, thought dont quote me on this - the most recent cast enchantment takes effect. Easiest way to test this would to take something that triggers on cold damage ([skill]Spinal Shivers[/skill]) and test it on the isle, or go fight some undead and use heart last

oh and to do skill tags just do [skill]skill name here[/skill] (spelling and case have to be perfect)

i don't play dervish much so take it with a grain of salt, but it would stand to reason that as long as the two enchantments are active the last one applied would be in effect. so your first scenario would be correct if i am understanding correctly. You do cold damage with grenths until it goes down at which point you do holy damage. and yes holy damage ignores armor.

edit: added some punctuation i missed. Also do the test both ways against the undead with heart first and then heart second. Holy damage does double damage against undead so you can tell really easy when holy damage is being applied.

"Holy damage as an attack damage type (either directly from a weapon or resulting from a buff such as Judge's Insight or Heart of Holy Flame) is not armor-ignoring, but simply non-physical, non-elemental damage which uses the normal damage calculations."

When Greth's Fingers is stacked on top of Heart of Holy Flame, you will deal cold damage. When you remove GF, you will deal holy damage until HoHF is either removed or expires. The active damage type depends on what was most recently cast on you.

Holy damage either does or doesn't ignore armor, depending on how you deal it. When it's directly dealt by the effects of a skill (like a smiting skill or the initial AoE blast from HoHF) it ignores armor. However, if it is dealt by a weapon (passively) it does not ignore armor, but will still do double damage to undead enemies and bypass any resistances to physical or elemental damage that your target might have.

And to show skills with tooltips, put the name of the skill in square brackets like this:

[Name of skill]

I can see your profession is monk so I can get where you get the "ignores armor" bit, but not all holy damage does - some is simply another for of damage, to which there is no EXTRA defense (vs elemental for example) but doesnt ignore armor completly, most monk spells though DO ignore armor
