Assassin Or Warrior?
I am trying to decide on a melee character.
What class does better in PvE? Warriors seem like a damage powerhouse --> Flail, Conjure, Save Yourselves, Dragon Flash, For Great Justice... Assassins seem to cooler abilities though I.E shadowsteps! I don't know much about assassins, but a quick glance over the assassin forums seems to suggest that MS/DB is the best combo but I have no experience with that. |

for meta pve versitility and shear power... please be A/X if you don't believe me let me guide you to this thread http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ost&t=10280755
btw warrior dps is not greater than A/D who crits on every hit. The base damage for crit on scythe is 70dmg. They also get enchants that recharge on every crit. The build may look like this.... I rick-rolled factions up to House Zu Heltzer at lvl 17 without dieing. [Farmer's Scythe][Mystic Sweep][Critical Defenses][critical agility][Critical Eye][Way of the Assassin][Way of the Master][resurrection signet] Last edited by llsektorll; Apr 19, 2008 at 07:33 PM // 19:33.. |

well my advice is go for warrior,
as unless you can sin very well, and people know it.. your not gonna get a decent party as A/x.. |

Warriors.
Dragon Slash, perma SY with Dragon Slash, best IAS's in the game, strong inherant armour, strong utility, perma-KD with Dragon Slash. @Sektor -- Take away the Enchants. And 70DPS isn't as good as Dragon Slash DPS along with the perma-kd and the SY. Last edited by Tyla; Apr 19, 2008 at 07:40 PM // 19:40.. |

if this is your first time playing a melee profession I'd recommend going with warrior, the high armor and lack of dependence on attack chains means it'll be much much more forgiving to learn to play.
Assassin was the last of the 3 melee professions I made, and I must say if I didn't have previous experience with the other melee professions it would've been much harder to get the hang of assassins for me. |

warrior in pve is bad.... all they good for now is maintaining ursan... even then it sucks... Derv > Ranger > Assassin > Paragon > Warrior.... if you are talking about physical dmg imo.... |

Let's change that order to War > Sin = Derv > paragon > ranger. +100 armor on party = good perma knockdown on ele bosses = good highest dps = good. |

I agree, go with sin. My guild held the myth that assassins were squishy front line characters that would get pummeled. So I barely could use my sin on guild runs, and rerolled a necro hesitantly. Ive been playing on my necro for 6 months or so but eventually got very bored of him. So I started playing on my sin again, was lazy to switch chars and brought my sin to ToA. We cleared UW really fast. Now they request that I bring my sin so the rits could cast splinter on me, place MoP/barbs on enemies for awesome nukes combined with the fast assassin attacks = win. Even faster with critical agility =) Added on top of MS/DB spam. Just let the terra tank or 600 monk hold onto agro before engaging and you're set! I recently maxed my SS so it gives me +25 defense if anything, not like I need it at all.

You'll find that we all have our opinions for/against certain professions. It just matters what you enjoy playing. I'd say play both and decide which you like best from there.

Id have to say damagewise, dervs win.
And dont even try that A/D stuff, its a perversion of dervs that needs a nerf :P But hey, looks like there's too much bias here for me to squeeze mine in. But dervs are more versatile than warriors, and more "sturdy" than sins. |

Won't help when SY draws all the attention onto yourself and gets your wimpy armor spiked to oblivion. A warrior is capable of soo much more armor.

Assassins are nifty when played well. They are not, by any means, a replacement for a Warrior. Incidentally, has eF been selling more invites?

To the OP; Warrior is the best DPS class. Further more, has the highest Armor Level. FURTHER MORE, is the possibly best class for spamming SY (arguably) as the Warrior is adrenaline based. But after all that, it comes down to 1 thing. Frenzy. If you have SY spam, you can frenzy as much as you like, as Prot Spirit stops damage, and the monks will focus on you, because the rest of the team will have +100al. Sins are bad, because they suffer FAR too badly if there is any blind or enchant removal. Dervs are bad because they almost rely on a Form, but have low AL anyway. They can be very handy, but War is still better. Paragons are okay, but you would want a couple of them for them for effectiveness. |
