3rd Birthday Roller Beetle Racing - New Exploit?
Can a mod move this to riverside inn? Thanks
Are prizes going to be given out for the top 100 roller beetle scores this time? Someone told me the prize guy wasn't here and they are only given out in new years. Also is the top 100 taken from the "monthly" scores? I have also been reading the conspiracy theories about the racing. I am getting very suspicious because of many things. First of all, I have been playing it for almost the whole weekend. I have never seen the two people who dominate the scoreboard, Y**** S***** and L*** A*******, even though I have been online all weekend (think 18+ hours a day spread out on every timezone, sad I know, but I only did it for this weekend). And even in dead hours when I see no opposing party has joined two times in a row. I know for a fact that they are playing even when they are offline on my friends list, because I take a look at the scoreboard every few hours and notice that they are putting up new scores. This is starting to make me think they are synching or there is an exploit. I would like to know if anyone has seen them racing. Second, I am an avid racing game player. Determined to find the best route, I took a look at the old racing guide post here. I have checked (timed with a watch) every alternate route to find the fastest route, taking into account the needed super roller beetles for the slowest areas. I also mapped through the entire area to find out where the speed bar starts dropping so I could know when to boost. Despite all this, I only post a score of around 450k with a super rollerbeetle. This is 25 seconds behind. My highest with an echo and 3 super roller beetles was 468k. This was still 7 seconds behind the scores for the weekend, and 15 seconds behind first place. Consider the fact that I was ridiculously lucky (1 out of 625 chance per race if the chance to get each powerup is equal) after 3 days of playing, it was my first time getting it. I had 0 knockdowns, and 0 rubberbands. My ping is around 100 ms. I'd like to think this is not an issue of my skill because I almost always place 1st, and I have beaten some of the people who have a top 100, but aren't plastered all over it with an super roller beetle. I can get to the first post in 19 seconds, I can get to the water boxes in 40 consistantly. I also read some other forums about this. They say that the current top scores are not much different than when you could double ram for maximum speed the rest of the course and when you could camp boxes. Now that those exploits are fixed the high scores are still almost the same. This means there must be another way to get maximum speed for the course, or a similar exploit of this magnitude. Maybe you need 5 super rollerbeetles to get on the top 100? Maybe but not likely. As I mentioned, you have a 1 out of 625 chance to get 4 in a row, while these guys are posting top daily if not monthly scores almost every couple hours. Any thoughts? As far as I know, they're not giving out roller beetles for this event.

Sure, they won't admit it (I am yet to see someone who abuses a glitch to admit it), but through casual play, you won't even get a score of 465K. (As U said, 3 SRB's means you would have to play around 625 times, which isn't casual - far from even) Heck, these people have consistent scores of 475K+... Now, if the difference between an average good score (455-460K) and they top scores (480K+) wasn't so high (20K+), then I would say: Ok, they simply are better. But the fact they have MONSTEROUS scores, aswell as the fact it's ONLY them, a lucky-few, goes to show there is something fishy. And I'm pretty sure it is, once again, on the line between exploit and "unintended effect"... Just like the Dual Ram. |

not sure about any exploit but if you can figure it out, please let me know. lol. also just because they are "offline" on your friends list doesn't mean they aren't in-game. if you go to your friends list, you can change your status to "offline" and you will show up to other players as not being in-game.
BTW unless they gave you permission to use their IGN's you should probably delete them from your post. |

Well I know, but it seems suspicious they would set themselves offline for long periods of time when they are actually online. Also why should I delete the names from the post especially when they are on a publicly available list? Last edited by lorph; Apr 29, 2008 at 02:46 PM // 14:46.. |

Anybody can set themselves to offline status. That isn't a bug/eploit, nor should that be that suspicious. Most likely, they are set to offline because they keep getting annoying PMs from random people like you saying "Your cheating ur n00b" or "cna u plz help mez win at racing wha is ur secret?" because there name is on the leader board.
