Expansion for Returning Player
So I am currently trying to get back in GW after leaving WoW and was wondering if anyone could suggest one expansion to get instead of getting them all? I kind of don't want to get all of them only due to the fact of GW2 coming out and with that whole system they are developing it is sounding like it wouldn't be worth it that much. I am more into the PvP side of things so is there a specific expansion that would be better suited for that? Thanks for the help!
EDIT: Should have stated that I only have Prophecies right now. Last edited by lith; May 04, 2008 at 08:22 PM // 20:22.. |

My guess goes to; the Platinum edition(Prophecies=original GW+Eye of the North). You can also buy the skill unlock packs in the online store if you want immedietly all skills(you will only have them in PvP). more opinions plz

As much as I HATE the dungeons, I have to admit EotN is really good (definetly the best looking expansion) and some of the quests are pretty hard so it'll keep you at it for a while. Plus with EotN you have the rankings also (basically the higher your rank lvl in a certain area will increase your skills power, and ability to buy the swanky armour lol), only downside is I don't think you can use EotN skills (asura, deldrimor) in pvp

I believe you can purchase PvP skill packs and just use your Prophecies game to PvP. It all takes place in the Battle Isles now, so no other chapters are required, just the skills.

I don't really mind PvE since it is an enjoyable break from PvP but because I like my focus on PvP maybe I should just get the PvP upgrade pack? And then maybe EoTN if the game really brings me back?

Yes, get the PvP upgrade pack if you are really into PvP. And if you do want to do PvE, EoTN is probably your best bet.

If you like PvP, I vote Factions. It moves fast, characters level fast, and there's some interesting PvP options to my understanding (not a huge PvPer, so I'm just going off what I hear from others). PvP unlock packs sure don't hurt though; if PvP is your main focus, getting those should open up a lot of options for you. Factions PvE also moves pretty quick so you can get skills fast for PvP. But unlock packs are even faster.

After the pvp pack you could choose based on new world/character preference
ie Factions for Assassin and Ritualist with an oriental theme Nightfall for Paragon and Dervish with a north African theme or the eye of the north expansion for an intro to the new races coming in GW2 and additional areas of prophesies to investigate. note eon does not let you play the new races "except as heroes" and there are no new classes. |
