Not legal, you'll get banned. Just tell her to return it. Hope she kept the receipt.

It isn't. It's never legal to sell anything that isn't in game for something that is in game.
Try taking it back to the store. If you haven't open the key they may at least give you store credit. |

No it's not legal and will lead to both accounts being suspended if reported or discovered by ANET.
Just send the game back, shoud be possible. |

Take it back and exchange it for a copy of Factions, Nightfall, or GWEN if it hasnt been opened. Selling your account for any currency, whether in-game gold or real-life money, is against the terms of EULA and can get you permanently banned.

But if she didn't open the key itself, it may be returnable.
Or you could just keep it for a mule. Either way. |

Couldn't you add the key to your current account and have extra slots?

How is selling outside the game for outside money illegal? You never agreed to anything if you haven't installed the other copy of the game, and didn't agree to any contract, and even if it were illegal, they would'nt be able to ban you for selling it cuz they wouldn't know who you are.
Should probably just sell at a discount to a friend. |

Generally people who resale "new" accounts are scammers. It not illegal to do that, if you've never used it, but most people try to sell accounts as new when they're not.
You'd be stupid to buy GW on eBay or some place like that for that reason. |

As long as the key is still sealed, you may be able to return it. If not, you could probably sell it somewhere else but not for in game gold. That will get you all kinds of banned.
