Anti-Physical? Blind is utility. Gale is utility. Besides, under that mentality, Water would be anti-physical as well, since Blurred Vision is a must on a water bar.

They are pretty much balanced. If you don't like they're spells, just interrupt them :P

Fire is good for an excuse to drag the game out till VoD.
Air is good for blinding melee. Earth is pretty useless in the current metagame. Water is good for movement control. |

I am sure that is not the only reason but Ill tell you that I would much rather run into a fire ele than an air ele on my primary character. The air ele will do more damage to me (armor penetration), will reduce my damage output (through blindness or weakness), and will likely keep me from getting away (through knockdown). The fire ele does have spells that cause burning but condition removal isnt that uncommon and self heal is omnipresent...degen gives time to run away and heal up....repeated heavy hits much less so. Some of the spells I see many fire eles using in AB for shrine capping such as Meteor Shower and Firestorm are virtuallly useless against a good player..."hmmm meteors starting to fall better run out of the effect before i take damage." or better yet, "hmm hes starting to cast MS...wait a few seconds then.....interrupt." What a fire ele has is the ability to spread decent damage over an area. If you look at his DPS (even with burning factored in) it is actually among the lowest of the primary damage dealers out there when targeted against a single opponent. Id far rather face a fire ele than a good warrior or assassin. Never had a fire ele kill me in under 4 seconds... Sorry but by themselves fire eles are easy to kill, dont do that much damage all told, and can be very easily neutralized (a monk can out heal their DPS and can remove burning rather easily, a ranger or mesmer can shut one down fairly readily, and a warrior can take what they dish out while knocking them down) |
