A Few Newbie Questions
Hey everybody. I played WoW for about a year but I quit because of the monthly fee's. I was thinking of playing Guild Wars because I only have to play a one time fee. Just had a few questions before I buy it:
1) Is the character customization good? 2) Is there a good senses of player to player interaction? 3) I was going to buy Guild Wars Factions Platinum Edition, is that all I need? Thanks for any information you can give me! |

I don't know much about WoW so here goes:
1) The characters look nice, but there will undoubtedly be a clone of your character somewhere else in the game. If you're creative it shouldn't be too bad though, and you can mix and match armor. 2) If you get in a good guild PuGing is pretty much dead, but if you have a good guild you can always find company. 3) Don't buy factions if you're new. I'd definitely recommend prophs or nightfall first. I'm a big fan of prophs, but more seem to like nightfall. Good luck with your decision! |

I, too, came here from WoW, so here are my thoughts on it...
Good luck. |

Ok, thanks guys! I think I will buy the Platinum edition, it has the basic Guild Wars and Eye of the North expansion. Two more questions, can I install it and play on 2 different computers like WoW? And also are the raids/dungeons?

u get way more content plus u can do either of the games whenever u like if u get eotn...its meant for high-end pve'rs so its content is very hard and u prolly wont even touch it, until at least 2 or 3 months down teh road if u feel u need eotn, it'll only cost u $10 since its only an expansion if u were to buy factions seperately (full campaign) its roughly $30 oh, and factions has a hard learning curve but u will be guided through in the beginner island yesh, proph is easier...but its also like 100x slower sometimes it'll feel like u arent even progressing at all, which isnt terribly bad but i prefer a faster pace, which factions definately has Last edited by snaek; May 18, 2008 at 05:16 PM // 17:16.. |

One other thing, I was watching some videos on you tube. I noticed that movement is controlled by pointing and clicking on a spot in front of you. Is there a way to change that, like to use the WASD keys?

u can use both wsad + arrowkeys + mouse
there is option in the menu to completely disable mouse movement (can help wit targetting in case of a misclick) first thing u'll notice bout gw compared to wow is obviously no jump but also the movement is kinda buggy and clunky |

If you want to check out what people can do with armour combinations and dye, head over to the Screenshot Exposition forum (way down the bottom) and find the thread(s) for your chosen profession.
A lot of people love to show off their armour and dye combo's, as well as just their character design (myself included). |

Here in Calgary, I'd recommend the GW Factions Platinum edition as the best deal. You get two full games and you can pick up EotN for just $10 more. Otherwise, you're looking at the same price for the Prophecies Platinum edition but you have to spend $30+ for Factions

OK, I had to buy Platinum: Factions. Am I able to install the game on 2 different computers with 2 different IP adresses? I know in WoW they would monitor this to make sure people weren't selling/sharing their accounts.
