How to find a good guild
I've been playing gw for a couple years now (on and off) and have never really found a guild worth staying in (PVE). Either they're way too small and have no use because rarely enough people are on to do something fun (also a complete lack of organization), or they're HUGE and nobody knows each other because the guild primarily just spam invites (also a complete lack of organization).
I believe there are some good guilds out there that will heighten my gw experience and better me as a player, but how do I find them or how do they find me? |

you could always be a semi-guild-hopper to quickly find your guild through actual experience in it. Or just go to big towns, see whats offered, prolly even a combination. Networking works too, see what guilds your friends are in and how they like it

Most good guilds dont recruit ingame. (I said "most" so dont flame me saying "my guild is da bomb and we recruit in game"). Most big active guilds have online applications, strict rules for joining, vent/TS interviews...
Easiest way is the recruitment forum on guru or GWO, you would be able to get a rough idea about the guilds recruiting there from reading their posts, and checking their websites. Next you have the Guild of the week index on GW.com. Lastly you have the official wiki with a large index of guilds and links to their websites/forums. Usually you can get a good idea about a guild from visiting their website and reading about their activities and events and such. Good luck! Join a friend's guild or create your own inviting your friends.
In relation to other points you have made, Active - hardly anyone is as active as they once were and with new games/ getting bored of gw has seen many players drift away from the game. Organisation - from when I owned a 800 person alliance, you need to have enthusiastic leaders/ officers in all of the guilds, problem being competitive players = big ego's. Arguments are likely to occur and problems ensue. Anyways good luck with you find, hopefully you will find somewhere you can settle. |

look on here for guilds that are recruiting and hunt for one that seems like its a good fit for you. Also, it might take multiple guilds before you find one you like

I would ask lots of questions before joining a guild and see if it is for you and most of all is it friendly and helpfull.what I mean by this is that they help you or advise you on how to get armour and what are good builds to use for this and that.when they help you this way you know you are joining a good guild it may not be big or all that active.I am a guild leader and do have expections.

One thing to consider when joining a guild is the Alliance the guild is with-you'll want to find an active guild in an equally active alliance.

one of the best ways to find a guild IMo other then activeness and doing the same stuff as you is maybe to do a trial run with them - UW clearance or something see how you compliment each other....also if they rely on lame like ursan or whether they run their own builds <<<this can be a good judge of a properly good guild <<pvE PvP - try doing a HA/TA run <<<again check team-builds etc...i.e lame like sway probs best to steer clear ^^ |

When was the last time you saw TAM or SMS spamming invites in kamadan id1? When was the last time you saw an unsold PvP guild like rawr recruit PvPers in random arenas? The best way to get a good guild is to meet friends in PUGs or whatnot, and get to know them better. Then see if their guild would be worth joining. Or message one of the officers in a notable guild you want to join and ask him/her about the guild. If they give a hasty response or one where they simply invite you without inquiring about your background/personality, then I say they're not worth joining. TBH, I'd much rather be in a small guild where people stick together and have PvE events together than a large guild where no one plays with each other because they're pretty much all strangers. The "notable guilds" is pretty much a joke too. It's filled with guilds that either won a guild of the week (lol?) or massive guild/alliances with 800+ members but no one knows each other. How do I know this? You have guilds like TAM/SMS not on the list, and guilds like LaZy on the list merely because of their size, and not quality of players/environment.
