Question about shields!
Hi guys two quick questions
1.) When it says 16 AL on a shield does that mean it gives +16 to each piece of armor??????????? i.e. helmet is 80al for warrior shield makes it 96, gauntlets 80al with a shield it becomes 96 etc. 2.) What is the most expensive shield in the game |

Erm, I'm not sure. I've always thought that it was just 16 armor. Although, if each piece of your armor has it's own armor class, and you have a certain percentage to get hit in any one spot, maybe your shield has a certain percentage to be in the way of a shot and then you would get the 16 armor. No idea.
I would hazard a guess that among the most expensive shield skins in the game are draconic aegis, magmas shield, and at a much lower expense tormented. |

1. "Shields are items that can be equipped in a character's left hand (sometimes called the "offhand") to increase his or her armor. This Armor is applied regardless of hit location or direction the character is facing. The maximum base Armor for a shield is 16."
http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Shield 2. That is relative to the situation.

To elaborate on what Darcy said, yes, the 16 AL is global.

to elaborate what the kitty holder above me said, yep it applies to every single one of your armor, thus no matter where you get hit you will have an additional +16 Al for that piece.
draconic shield is pretty damn expensive, so is magmas and tormented. Eternal used to be pretty expensive but not anymore, well not as rare at least. |

1. Its 16 AL added to all damage taken, so if you are a warrior and using a shield, you will technically have a base of 96 armor, not 80.
2. I dunno really buy my best guess would be Tormented Shield. |

Tormented are currently the most expensive skin.
You can purchase just about any other skin with a high requirement for a low amount of money. However if you want a Req8 shield with specific skin/mods it will cost you more than the Torment depending on the seller and the skin/inscribed vs non-inscribed. |

I seem to remember back in the Proph-only days that shields only protected from damage coming from in front of you and not from behind you (which is more realistic). Was that actually the case and they changed that at some point? (Or am I having a senior moment?)
Also, to clarify, that 16AL applies to both physical and elemental? So that a shield with, say, +10 vs cold, would give base 96 against physical, fire, earth, lightning, dark and holy but base 106 against cold? |

If the attack is from a spell, Holy/Shadow/Dark/Chaos all ignore armor.
If the attack is from a wand/staff then it does take armor into concideration. |
