Dumb question?
If I get guild wars factions platinum, will i be able to level all the way to 20.. and isn't 20 a bit shallow for a level cap?

I see no difference between non-platinum or non-factions and factions and/or platinum in case of level cap.
20 is so that we dont have to (hehehhehe) grind to be good. Skill (ehehhehhe) < time (ohohhoh). |

All games allow lvl20. If you are new, I would suggest NOT getting Factions, but buy Prophecies or Nightfall. Factions has a lot of mediocre skills and will be very unfriendly to a newer player.
Hope that helps. |

The level cap is the same no matter which chapter you get, they all go to 20. With Factions you'll reach level 20 fast, and early. Gets it out the way so you can get on with the game
Guild Wars is more about using the skills you have, since although you can aquire a large number of skills, you can only carry 8 on you at a time, rather than how high a level you are. The taking out of awkward monsters is more about ability, rather than being bigger, for the most part. |

Maybe you shouldn't play this game. And neither should we. |

I would absolutely recommend purchasing Prophecies or Nightfall instead of Factions. Factions overall was a horrible game and won't introduce you to Guild Wars very well. Prophecies, on the other hand, is very thorough in teaching you what you need to know, and Nightfall is more supportive of newer players with the addition of heroes, which are like highly improved henchman.
About the level cap at 20: The point of the game isn't to grind up to level 100 and be able to handle anything, but rather the game starts at level 20. Everything before 20 is like a warm up and the real fun begins at 20. |

Sometimes I like the idea of getting to level 100 or more and being able to handle everything.
I could get revenge on all the creatures that wiped out my parties in the past. Maybe we need an easy mode to go with hard mode for those who want the wow experience, a game that can be all things to all people isn't a bad thing. Never happen of course |

Yes, you'll be able to get to level 20 in Factions and the level 20 cap is there so we'll be able to play the game instead of grind.

The Guildwars Platinum Faction contains GotY and Factions along with the Bonus Mission Pack. (had to look this up for another Q&A post this week)
As stated level 20 is "IT" for all GW campaigns. We have titles to max, we don't have time to level up to 80. Max armor is also available for purchase fairly early through shortcuts. After that it's all vanity. And max stat weapons can also be purchased - cheaply with collectible drops or more expensively from weaponcrafters (NPC) or other players.

It's like I got told a few weeks after Guild Wars came out and I was complaining about only getting 8 skill slots. () The game has really very little to do with what level you are. It has very little to do with armor and weapons. The game is about how you use the skills, not how many you get to use at once.
Of course, it is now 3 years later and....... |
