Best pre profesion?
I kind of want to make one just to get dyes, but don't know what would be best. I'll turn this into two questions. What's the best thing to get ectos with now as well?

Well, I got LDOA on my monk.
Healing was great, damage was decent, soloing was easy. |

Personal preference is anything with a ranger secondary as having a pet can be a big asset in pre when it comes to killing things. Monks are generally sought after for Char hunting parties as self healing is not so great in pre.
If you decide to go post for ectos, monk still wouldn't be a bad choice for the SS/600 duo runs. Last edited by Damian979; Aug 08, 2008 at 08:39 PM // 20:39.. |

I'm only going to farm with this character. I don't care much about LDoA as it takes hundreds of hours to get. I might keep ranger since I got my nevermore flatbow to use.

I noticed that everyone was just listing primary professions. What about the 2ndary professions? I my self prefer to go with a necro mesmer in pre, but like someone else said, maybe tha's just me. That, and I love degen. As far as ectos go though, I dunno, it's been literally forever since my necro in post has been anywhere near an ecto dropping critter.

I agree with the others who said Ele is best. It is. For secondary, I would go monk, so you can heal yourself.

From my experience, Mesmers do quite well in Pre. They get Backfire and Empathy, which do a good job at killing Charr.

Admittedly, I've only played 3 different primary profs in pre... but I'd have to say an Ele/Me has got to be one of the best pre profession choices... you get spamable flare (which does good dmg in pre), decent self healing (in both ele and me), tons of energy, firestorm (which is also good in pre... much more so than post of course) and conjure phantasm which is great in pre. On my E/Me I was soloing charr at lvl 8 quite easily.
