I just farmed exuro flatus in the domain of secrets about 50-60 times and didn't see his staff drop once. I put the copy of the staff I already had in storage out of superstition and went out again. I got the staff on the second try!

Are there some hidden rules about when greens drop that I'm not aware of?

QFT.... most rare drops in pve depend on your luck :P

it's all luck? heh, you'll hate me when I say I got the first copy of the staff on my first try in normal mode =P

If it took you 52 attempts, that is just under 2% success rate.. which is roughly 1.8% better than the drop rate for most greens. The program is simply rolling dice.
