Chat binds?
How do you make a bind in GW, so when you for example press "*" is types "bla bla bla" in local chat?
Do you need some kind of program for that? |

High-end keyboards have macros that will do the trick.
If you need to learn how to set them up, just ask one of the hfff cheaters in lutgardis. |

Soooooo, I guess my advice is to buy a g15 then...... But an older one, the newer ones have fewer keys. On the plus side, they're cheap like borscht. |

I could be mistaken, but I believe you can use AutoHotKey. It's free.
But the g15 has led backlight for the keys! Yay! AND a cool lcd screen that can display all sorts of useful/useless information. I have an applet for it that displays in game information like health, xp, gold on hand, gold in stash, etc. But I guess given the choice of spending $80 - $100+ for a keyboard or $0 for autohotkey..... |

Not quite what you asked, but FYI, the up/down arrow keys work on a stack of chat text entries like it works with prompts (at least UNIX prompts. I think DOS, too, but not sure.) With chat activated (cursor blinking in the entry field) try the up and down arrows to see what I mean.
Try this in team chat when you're not on a team, otherwise folks will think you're quite odd. 1) Hit Enter to activate chat. 2) Type something into chat, say "Hello World!" and hit Enter to send it to chat. 3) Hit Enter to activate chat again. 4) Type something else into chat, say "Goodbye World!" and hit enter to send it. At this point, you have a chat stack with "Goodbye World!" on the top and "Hello World!" below top. 5) Now hit Enter to activate chat again. 6) Hit the up arrow key, and you'll see "Goodbye World!" appears in the chat without you having to type it again. Hit the up arrow key once more, and now you'll see "Hello World!" appears in chat. Once the chat text you want to say again appears, just hit enter to send it like you'd typed it manually. After you've hit up twice, hit the down arrow and notice "Goodbye World!" reappears. I've used that when standing in town selling multiple items. I type up the specific "WTS ..." lines in Notepad, copy/paste them one by one into GW. Then when I want to repeat them, I just hit enter, up arrow until I get to the first one, then enter, down arrow, enter until they're repeated. Of course you should do this on the Trade tab, and you can't go very fast without triggering the anti-spam warning. But it saves typing or pasting them all over and over. Also be aware that everything you send to any chat tab gets added to the top of the stack. So if you have your chat stack loaded up with your WTS ads and then send someone a whisper, the whisper text will be the first thing you see with up arrow. I've never tested to see how deep the stack goes (how many chat entries it remembers,) but I've never run out of room to store entries even when selling a fair amount of items. Cheers, Luny |
