question about forced instancing (new player)
My wife and I just got the trial for this, we were playing together until the quest event where Ascalon is destroyed (and game switches to "two years later...")
I'm just wondering, was there anyway for us to do this section together? When we chose "our party is ready to leave everything behind" as the option, it forced us to do it solo. If not, how soon can we group up again? We're checking this out as a WoW alternative, and we always play together, I'm a little upset at how the game forced us to separate from our party, so disgusted that I don't even want to play. Any info? Edit - also, if this is just a short diversion, are there many quests that force your group to split like this? Last edited by Tomkatt; Oct 05, 2008 at 02:11 AM // 02:11.. While I can't comment about whether it was supposed to split your party, I can tell you that within 5 or 10 minutes of more playing, you should be able to play together again. There are only a few times where you are forced to go solo, and other than the tutorial and your situation, I can't think of the others off the top of my head.
It is likely that it intentionally split the party in order to create a sense of chaos, confusion, etc. after the destruction of Ascalon. Also, if you think about it, most adventurers aren't going to be together after 2 years when being called for. But fear not, you'll be back together shortly. |

The mission to leave Pre-Sear(the green happy place) is meant as a short introduction to the PvP aspects of the game, specifically the Random Arenas where you can't choose your team mates(well, not suppose to anyway). For every other mission/quest/whatever you'll be able to choose your own team mates, in this case your wife. The exceptions being the few solo missions out there.
You'll be able to group together again once you get into the same outpost. |

There are a few instances in which you will not be able to play with your wife. A couple missions (such as Augury Rock later in Prophecies) are solo missions which as the name suggests must be done alone. For at least 99% of the game content, however, you can play with others players.

There are a few solo quests, mainly to do with heroes etc. There is also one solo mission in the entire game, tihark orchard in nightfall.
Other then that you can play with ur wife as much as you want. Welcome to guru and guild wars, enjoy ur stay |
