Always gets rid of Spiteful Spirit
I've been capping a few skills over the past month and i've realised no matter what skill i cap, when i get back into town It always gets rid of my old elite (SS usualy) and keeps the new one. I just wondered if anyone knew why this was?
Thanks in advance. |

Because the game thinks if you cap an elite, you intend to use it.

They switched it so that the elite on the far right stays and the one on the far left leaves, instead of the far left one staying and the far right leaving when you zone with 2 elites.

lol.
You're only allowed 1 elite on your skillbar, after you cap and go back to an outpost one of them is off your bar, why one you just capped? i dont know, ask ANET, no reason to being lazy tho, it just takes max 5 seconds to put SS back on instead of the new skill. |

..does it really matter.....and I think it depends on what slot you have it in..or its just because it keeps the newer skills added to your bar..

DarkNecrid is right. When I did my skill capping (I've capped every elite in the game) It always kept the elite I had on the rightmost side of my bar and got rid of the leftmost one. So if you wanna keep SS on the bar and not lose it everytime you zone, make sure you have your cap sig to the left of it. Think of it as the first elite on the bar is thrown away and the 2nd elite on the bar is kept.

As an added caveat: the game removes all elites except the rightmost one when you zone, not just when you go back to town. So if you're moving from explorable area to explorable area, make sure the elite you want to retain is at the rightmost before you zone to the next area.

I never understood the need for the switch. Not only did keeping the first elite on the bar (closest to the left) make more sense, we already got used to that system.
What made it worse was the swtich was never announced, i found out while skill capping with my cap sig as my 8th slot then loosing the wrong elite. |

It has caused me problems in the past, for instance when going through portal from area to area it means that you lose the elite that relates to the build. Option should be there to choose on the loading screen or just leave you with both.

i dont really cap much so i never really noticed that there was an order to which you lost the elite. i use my primary elite in the 3 slot so that would explain why it seems like id lose the one i used (cap in 5) i thought it was just some mean joke anet played on us where theyd take out the elite that you had synergy with and would stick you with the new one just for kicks.

Point is if you're going to cap a skill put the signet to the left of the elite skill you want to keep - especially if you're going to need it later. |

As said above, the first skill is removed.
Really its all the same though, just keep your bar saved and upload it,takes 2secs. |

the game removes the left most elite and keeps the right most one. it does get annoying if you dont put the sig of cap before your current elite. specially when you caravan VQ an option to choose which elite to keep would be nice, maybe you get to choose one non elite skill from a skill list that you can add instead of the elite you will loose? would be better than having to VQ with a bar with one less skill.
